I should start out saying that I've had few problems running Neverwinter Nights 1 or either of the Knights of the Old Republic games on this system, aside from a few initial setup and configuration problems that I was able to quickly resolve with help on the old forums or a few quick searches.

Sometimes, when changing camera modes into Exploration mode the camera movement keys will cease to function. Sometimes I have to change the modes again with the mouse, sometimes with the keyboard, sometimes I have to save my game and reload. Is there a way to make sure the keyboard commands always work? It wouldn't be as much of an issue if the camera didn't move on its own and change views, suddenly giving me a closeup of my character and obscuring my view of the enemy in battle, only to find I can't move the camra back to its old position. Yes, I know the annoyance described above only happens when you near an obstacle, but it's annoying. NWN1 was better.

Also, sometimes pressing the function keys will only select a character instead of switching to them, and I have no idea how to get it back to selecting them. Clicking on their portrait with the mouse still works, but I've been using the function keys since Baldur's Gate I. Any suggestions on this hidden toggle would help.

Also, sometimes when I try to move my character, (s)he insists on walking instead of running. I've verified they are not overloaded nor are any modes like search, tracking, or stealth active. The only way to go back to what in NWN1 was called "run mode" is to save my game, quit to Windows, and then load the game. Is there some way to find the walk/run toggle? I think I've played with the entire keymap, but can't figure it out.

None of these are documented in the manual, and there is no "keymap.ini" type file in the game directory that can help me.

I'm using Vista 64-bit home premium and the "final" patch.

I run into a similar issue occasionally, where the keyboard camera keys (left/right) just stop working, or have a big latency effect. Not often though and it's not from switching modes; for mine, I can just click on my character (careful, clears action cue!) or perhaps switch characters & back, and the keys jump back into action okay. Never had to reload, though ..

yes, perhaps - well ok, yes it was. But I've put a lot of time into my 'nwn2player.ini' and my camera is working as well as and in some ways better than NWN1 : the only drawback I see is that I'm using a minimal video card and so get a smidgeon more latency than I'd like. (I use Exploration and Strategy modes, but ironically Character mode, when I've tried it, has been more enjoyable than ever - the problem is I'm paranoid and like seeing what's behind me)

umm, all i can mention is that there are toggles in Game Options, on each of the Camera Mode tabs, "Take Control of Companion on Left Click" - while it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the function-keys, it might be related. (If turned off, Left Click targets instead of selects)

I'm sure there's no "run mode" toggle, unfortunately. Usually just engage tracking or search to walk - else it's auto-run. A Shift-click to move also forces walk. But it sounds like ya got something slightly more buggy goin' on here. sry, donno

The keymapping is in MyDocs->NWN2\\nwn2player.ini

kick it ;)

well, don't, but you know what i mean ..
