The Mattock/Widow combo kicks out the most damage of any combo available to the Soldier. It also has the habit of making you a bit wiser about your shots, so I guess if that's you're thing, go for it.

The Revenant/Viper combo is runner up to this. You'll kick out less damage but you can sustain your firing for a lot longer, and you'll tend to gain a bit more benefit from you ammo power's effects (as the sheer amount of rounds you'll be putting downwind means more freezes, flaming enemies and disabled mechs).

The choice is primarily one of precision vs brute force.

The Incisor is turd. Don't bother with it for Shep. It works fine on squadmates but the ammo for Shep is daft.

To specify, the programming for the Incisor is broken, so you'll be outta ammo and outta luck fast if you use that thing. On the other hand, it's broken for squadmates b/c it doesn't have a damage handicap... since your team has inf. ammo, they're golden with it.

Alright, as soon as the patch arrives on the PS3 as soon as I hit the derelict reaper I'll chose the Widow and keep the mattock.



I thought the incisor was pretty decent, I used it all the way through my first insanity playthrough on the 360. It also looks really cool, but if I'm honest I've barely ever given the Viper a try apart from my first playthrough like a year ago. Until the derelict reaper ship I'll try out the viper rifle.
