Threaten looters for looting after you just got done clearing out 3 other living quarters.

Well, one way of looking at it is Renegade Shep getting them to leave so they can take whatever is in there and also so doesn't have 'competition' for thieving rights to the other buildingsSuron wrote...
yep it's pretty hilarious.

Like I said earlier, Paragon Shep shouldn't even have been there or been looting from the other places

More or less this. Like many other games, looting and such is considered an almost pure gameplay aspect, not otherwise.makenzieshepard wrote...
In 99% of the cases it's simply gameplay and story segregation. I know it's a boring explanation but it's also the correct one.

But that whole scene with the looters on Omega could be seen as a Easter Egg relating to the looting system of the first game.

It better be! But it would be hilarious if someone points out to you in ME3 that most of your money is stolen

On the other hand it didn't really make a lot of sense that Shepard could carry around 100 assault rifles and suits of armour. I'm really struggling to see how this was better.swirlwind wrote...
Of course. However, ME1 did it better. Sure, we were looting containers and selling the stuff we found, but at least most of the time those were containers in enemy bases and guns and armour from dead mercs or geth. It made sense within the story, whereas the ME2 method didn't. Just another step to make the game seem less like a role-playing game.makenzieshepard wrote...

You don't have to loot things on the Mordin mission, although the hypocrisy has always amused me. In fact I think there should have been some repercussions. Also possibly a cleanup reward from Aria.

It is one of the faults in the paragon/renegade system since you never loose points i've had characters that are full on one and almost full on the other by the end but i've always managed to explain that to myself by my character not being stupid and some of the paragon/renegade options seem to fall into that catagory.
Has got better though since i remember time ago in games like Baulders Gate 2 some of the "evil" choices amounted to pretty much stabbing yourself in the foot

Anyway, I don't like how everything you do from opening lockers and safes to hacking PDA's all gives you the same lame result... Some spare change. Although I do appreciate the simplified weapons and armor system. While it was really cool to be able to modify your weapons with specific parts that alter the behavior of the weapons in specific ways, and they should bring that back to some extent; it got to be a serious pain in the ass going through a list of 150 parts trying to sell everything you don't absolutely want without accidently selling anything you actually do to make room for new stuff. And some how no matter what, you always found THE COOLEST STUFF when your inventory was full. Never to be seen again, after you made some room for it. And of course you don't have the option of choosing anything to liquidate to omni gel when that happens but are forced to do that to the new cool stuff you just found. Great.
What they need to do is find a middle ground between the complexity and tediousness of the old upgrades system, and the over simplification and lack of customizability of the new system.

I hated it in ME1 because of all the items filling your inventory. I'd look forward to a NewGame+ because I had all the top gear already and just omnigel'd everything in sight. Peace of mind.
I'd rather not be able to customize much of anything than having to carry a bunch of useless stuff only to have to sell it later.
