This issue happened to me after the update on the 360 and now I attempted to complete the game and Tali died at the end however she is loyal and I was able to keep her loyal during the conflict with Legion by doing the Paragon speech check.

The only way I could fix this on the 360 was to bring Tali with me on the suicide mission as part of my squad, I got annoyed and turned off the PS3 so I do not know if this will work here I guess I'll try again tomorrow with her in my squad and see what happens.

Has anyone run into a problem where Tali will die during the suicide mission even though she is loyal?

If this matters here is a list of people I used:

Legion – Specialist

Miranda – Leader

Garrus / Mordin – My Squad

Zaeed – Brought back the crew

Samara – Specialist

Miranda – Leader

Garrus / Mordin – My Squad

I used this set-up multiple times and everyone survived until the update hit the 360 and now the PS3 which I assume includes the updates from the 360.

You could try sending Tali back with the crew instead. (Zaeed is more of a tank anyway and provides a better score to keep everyone alive.)

I'm assuming everyone is Loyal in your party and that you have every recruit-able person.

I just finished this the other day where everyone survived (used Tali as my Tech Specialist and that was it. She just stayed with the main group from there on out.)

Tali is one of the ones with the weakest defenses. Since you took Garrus (one of the best) and sent away Zaeed (also one of the best) she had a good chance to die. If you want to keep her alive, have loyal Jack take back the crew and take loyal Kasumi to defeat the boss (or switch the two).

Yeah, everyone is loyal, and I have everyone.

It's just odd that this set-up has worked before...

However, I may try to send her back with the crew next time. And if that doesn't work I'll just bring her with me and Mordin.

Im on pc but i cant see how it would differ from console versions. I always have loyal mordin escort the crew back imo thats the safest place for him to be, and i always put loyal tali in the vent, again safest place for her to be.

The more heavy hitters high defence members you have holding the line the better so garrus, zaeed, grunt. Then i usually have miranda and jacob as the 2 team leaders.

Well, if Mordin is in his party (which is also a safe place), Tali and Jack are the next to Squishies which is why I suggested to send her back and keep Zaeed to help hold the line...

Not meaning to sound like an arse, but this topic really should've been posted in the 'Mass Effect 2 Official Campaign' forum, this isn't really a 'PS3 technical' query despite what you think.

I am curious as to what 'update' you are referring to because that setup of yours would NEVER work, so either you've got mixed up somewhere in what you think is true or you managed to have some major glitch when you played on the 360 version when you used that formulate. With everyone recruited and making it to the final stage of the Suicide Mission, having 2 of the heavys not 'Holding the Line' is always a recipe for a death and with Mordin not being in that lineup, then yes Tali is next to die.

Basically put... pre-Kasumi your playthrough at the end looks like this.

Mordin, Garrus and Zaeed safe due to being final battle squadmates and escort respectively. Leaving you with just Grunt, Miranda, Jacob, Thane, Samara, Miranda, Jack and Tali on door defence duties
Now I'll link the main topic you probably could do with reading in a bit, but basically put, the above team holding the line has a defence score of 15 and you need 16 to get everyone out alive, thus Tali dies.

Now, with Kasumi added to the group... it's same as above but now you have a score of 16 and you need 18, thus Tali still dies because she is still numero uno out of those people to die and thankfully you don't have a lower score which would mean less deaths.

Basically put, as Shiratori mentioned, if you swap anyone of the door defence team with either Garrus or Zaeed and everyone will live.

For more information on this, please read the topic I've linked here as it'll further explain what I am talking about above (Note anyone not wanting the Suicide Mission spoiled, really shouldn't be reading that topic ;) )

It appeared to be a technical issue, which is why I posted here...

I completed Mass Effect 2 three times on the 360 before the "Title Update" (which by the way was the update I was referring to) and I used that combination and everyone lived. I also told 4-5 friends on the 360 about that combination and it worked for them too.

When I experienced the issue on the 360 it was after all of the DLC was added, I decided to play through the game again from beginning to end. And when I used that combination Tali died, not only did Tali die at the end, but after restarting the mission and playing again with Tali in my group she died when she was in my squad by the seeker swarms during the second push. She fell through the map and reappeared alive next to me.

I did not use unity to bring her back and based on that alone It appeared to be a glitch.

I didn’t dream that formula, unless everyone surviving the final mission with that fofmula on the 360 was a glitch which was fixed with the title update we’ll never know.

But regardless I ended up sending Tali with the crew and she was alive in the end. And I guess from now on I will be sending her with the crew.

Ok firstly I want to apologise as my initial post actually is incorrect, just suddenly looked at it again and apart from the fact I mentioned Miranda on defence twice (although didn't mention Legion, so he replaces one of them) I also got the score wrong and now see what has caused your issue. It's Kasumi, as far as the door defence team goes she is classed as a 'weak' squadmate (same as Jack, Tali and Mordin).

Basically before Kasumi was added you had the potential for 8 squadmates to be at the end like I said. With Zaeed on Escort and Garrus with Mordin that leaves you with 2 weak squadmates (Jack and Tali) and 1 heavy hitter in Grunt who basically should ensure both are alive.

However... with Kasumi added that means you now have 3 weak squadmates which means 1 of them will die and Tali is first on the list. The issue isn't a console problem, it's just the way the Suicide Mission 'Hold the Line' score is worked out for both the consoles and the PC. Basically put, since Kasumi is added, with all squad loyal and everyone recruited you need 2 of your heavy hitters holding the line for everyone there to make it out alive. So as I said before if you had Garrus on door defence and took someone else to the final battle, you can still get away with sending Zaeed back with the crew or as you noted, sending Tali back with the crew also ensures everyone survival (although if you'd took Zaeed to the final battle as well as Garrus, Mordin would've died :P )

i sent tali as the first tech specialist and i had her loyalty and she got shot in the face by a rocket...
my friend told me that when your doing her loyalty mission, if you have enough paragon or renegade, you can keep her fathers secret and keep her from getting exiled. I'm not sure if this is correct, please help.

The tech specialist will die with a shot in the face, if not mistake either due to not being loyal or one of the ship upgrades was not completed. I forget which.

Check out this diagram, which was created by someone here

Looking at above diagarm other people need to also be loyal for vent person to survive. ie the 1st leader, it also has to be a specific person as well.

thank you.:) i realize what i did wrong, i had a non loyal Miranda has the fire team leader.
Also, when you activate legion, is it the very next mission you go on when your crew gets taken by the collectors, because it seems to be the case for me and i really want to keep the entire crew and get legions loyalty.

You can do legions loyalty mission right after you get him, just talk to him right away, until he gives you mission. Don't do any other missions
