I stay on normal but mostly for the same reasons as the OP.

I don't, honestly, much care for the combat. I do to a certain extent but fighting the thousands of foozles in the Deep Roads isn't fun after a few maps. The problem is that the challenge is basically to figure out the set of actions that = winning and then rinse and repeat and that gets old and no matter what the foe is, by and large, the same tactics work on everyone.

I always feel guilty for playing on Casual but, starting at the Deep Roads, I started switching between normal and casual because the game began to get repetitive and boring with wave after wave of uninteresting combat.

Also, I played on the Xbox 360. I heard that the the 360 version is easier, but I feel like the controls made it harder to manage my characters and figure out what's going on, on the battlefield.

I played twice on Easy - I always go with Easy first when I can because I have coordination problems and even with a PC I worry it might make it harder for me as opposed to most people. I'm doing Normal now and have already noticed a difference in the difficulty.

Since 1.04 easy is ridiculously easy I have to play on normal. But I like Normal anyway.

I've played higher difficulties, but I like to feel more badass. Chugging potions constantly doesn't make the game harder.. just makes it feel cheap.  Why doesn't everyone just chug potions.  Really, it's the only thing seperating you from everyone else.  I'd expect a grey warden to be able to outfight someone, not out potion them.

Normal has a decent difficult without the need for potions during normal fights if you use strategy.

I play on Normal or Hard, Casual just feels cheap to play. I play the game for the story and the combat. I mostly play on Normal though, Hard or higher isn't really a "Challenge" it just feels like things take longer to die, The hardest part of the game for me was the DLC campaigns lol.

I usely play on hard dificult because, if i dont, I get bored way to quick. I never play insane/nightmear in games because if i do that i cant play the game a second time just gets to boring ,way to quick for my taste. Dont know other people are that way to but i like games to be a bit of a challenge not somthing i cant be a half a wake to play.

My opinion is that games to day are realy geting easyer all the time. When i play old games on hard when you realy need to think past every thing, that you do :P

The gaming audience has increased drastically over the past decade. These difficulty settings, that now exist for almost every game, seem to be directed to the wider more varied audience.

I appreciate it. I have less time to play video games and I play RPGs almost exclusively.

Sometimes I use some of those PS2 JRPGs I'm halfway through had a Casual setting.

That's fine, if you don't enjoy the combat at normal, no one's going to complain. I finally persuaded my brother to play through Origins recently and he ended up deciding that he enjoyed the game more at Easy (despite the fact that the combat got far too easy at the end).

I play usually on Normal/Casual because for some reason during BIG battles everything's kinda choppy and late-responding.

Like I order Wynne to do a Group Heal, animations plays but nothing happens. My Warden dies and THEN after 5 seconds the stupid spell finally kicks in.<_<

If I had Nightmare on, it would be a very short slaughter.

I find playing on casual or easy just boring. Half the fun of games for me is overcoming the hardship and feeling incredibly satisfied from doing so. It isn't satisfying to complete for me if I haven't cracked a couple of teeth in frustration at some point or another.

Plus, I find it more realistic. It just breaks my suspension of disbelief seeing my Warden carve through darkspawn like a hot knife through butter. Darkspawn are supposed to be like these killing machines built solely for mindless violence and rampage. You hear stories of them wiping out platoons of seasoned men in the Korcari Wilds. So why should I be able to kill 15 of them without breaking a sweat?
