It's been discussed before if powers would continue as they are in ME2 for ME3, further expanding the currently offered powers with new ones and even continuing from level 30 to 60. Even if that doesn't happen there's a good chance we might see the same or an improved version of what's in ME2 if ME3 was already underway in it's production by release of ME2. Still many months till release but this gets me to another part of the topic. Weapons and Armor.
It occured to me that the reason we've seen so little in terms of weapons is that there might be others along the way if we continue from 30 to 60 as mentioned above. Also, it would probably explain why a number of armor pieces have only small bonuses. There could be more pieces on the way. Maybe even the full suits broken down for more choices.
Then again this opens another theory, and that is that ME2 was actually unfinished and was polishd for what it had. ME3 would actually complete it, thus one game broken into 2 parts. Highly unlikely, but a thought all the same.
I'd hope, and this builds onto the above, that ME3 is a hybrid of ME1 and ME2 taking the best of it all and completing the trilogy with the best mechanics and ideas from both prior games. Maybe even a return to skills so some things make more sense, like how anyone can just hack/bypass their way through anything in ME2 (which doesn't make sense at all), or people not wearing full suits in some situations (which again makes little sense).
Both ME1 and ME2 are great games. I am still playing both back to back and can't wait for the third so I can continue the story and play all 3 back to back eventually.
Possible continued system from ME2 to ME3
