And what exactly constitutes a ''Dwarfish voice''? They sound pretty deep and heavy voiced to me.

Oh wait, you mean they don't have a lame ''Scotty from TOS'' accent? Wow.Who exactly decided that all Dwarves should sound like that?

Some more!

1) "Trap Detected" -> Chaaaaarg...oops. Really? You just detected the trap but you'll make a beeline through it anyway.

2) Nearest visible enemy? Yeah, right. More like wait for the player to initiate combat before doing anything so your caster PC has to run ahead to get shot up before the melee will get in to do anything unless you manually do it. But that's ok, because after you get them in, they will rush headlong into anything even across the visible area through AoEs.

3) We're all butt buddies! Ever try running into a narrow area or doorway but want to turn right back around without having set your party to not follow you? Yeah, thanks Alistair, I needed you to stand in the doorway while I slowly push you out of the way to get out. What happened to group formations from Baldur's Gate?

4) Non-lockpicking character -> Try to open a locked chest -> Leliana tells me "I can do that for you." -> Wait... oh, you were joking. You're not actually going to get the for me. I have to make you get it for me.

5) Lack of a target frame or at least some useful indication of debuffs on a target other than ones that are completely obvious.

6) Right click to attack enemy -> Enemy runs past you -> You're not going to run after it? I right clicked it, why are you standing there looking like an idiot?

7) Lack of specialty kill animations for non-melee. You get the option to decapitate or some random chance boss specific kills (like on Broodmother) if you are melee. But if I get a crit killing shot from ranged, nothing. With a spell? Nothing.

8) Useless spells. Does anyone really use insect swarm? It takes 4 points invested into it for that. Or how about walking/virulent walking bomb? Let me place it on a target so my melee can run up to him and get blown up. I just suicide bombered my own party. Thanks!

9) Item set bonuses. So hey I just got this new armor piece but I lose my item set bonus. Which one do I want? What do I lose if I break that set bonus? The little green icon?

10) My friendship bar is at 100 with you all maxed out. We're best friends forever. Wait, why are you annoyed that I didn't stab that guy in the face? You should know by now that I don't stab random people in the face. Aren't we BFFs?

11) Bryden's "large family" dialogue in Warden's Keep. 3 PEOPLE AND A DOG IS NOT A LARGE FAMILY.

12) Can I get some good looking non-plate armor. Please? I don't want to look like a flamboyant jester. I don't want all the leather and chainmail armor sets modeled after Xena the Warrior Princess. Nothing against you, Lucy Lawless but the whole leather strap hula dress thing, what's up with that?

Wow, not even I could nit pick in such fine detail...
I'm not a fan of nit picking things that I don't like cause honestly, if there was anything I didn't like I didn't hear it over the sound of how awesome the game is

Excellent point. ^_^

I really tried, Morrigan, went out of my way to get you that blasted dragon grimoire, covered you in shinies and gifts, tiptoeing on eggs not to provoke you...

Ooh, sweet, we're friends now!

... but wait, you still disapprove (-10) when I kill slavers <_<

- Invisible Walls

- Not being able to just go somewhere and kill stuff for loot and XP and nothing else

- 800000000000000 variations of mostly useless items clogging my inventory

- Bad creep and chest drops. A locked chest with one Mushroom! Weeeee.

- Not enough Plants available.

- Vendor trash is worthless

- No built in camp storage (the addon by the dev is nice though)

- Warden's Keep not being the base of operations it was touted to be

- Archery is weak /sadpanda

- Dog needs more Talents and more Skills

- Tactic slots for companions need to be doubled, base and progression. Too many > too few

- Cant start as an Apostate mage

- Most vendors don't restock. Some vendors change inventory later in the game, but if you bought what they had earlier, youre screwed.

- No dedicated Healer class

Agreed on the "beam me in" ambushes and the sheer amount of loot vs. limited storage. Loot and how to deal with it cost me hours of gameplay I'd rather spend with the storyline.
Some fights have been lenghty and parts of, e.g. the deep roads would've been better with a little less and more varied encounters. I've found the deep... whatever that vernim was called... simply annoying.
Leliana, an otherwise absolutely adorable character, almost ruined all her credibility with one performance... a matter of taste, maybe, it made me cringe and cower in pain.
Oh, and animals dropping chainmails or weapons is totally wrong.

Other than that, wonderful game.

Into the Deep Roads section now chasing down the Paragon. Going through the place I think is called Caradins Cross I started getting 'beam me in Scotty' ambushes by Deepstalkers about 4 times in a row. That right there is really boring, uninspired, repetative combat. Poor attention to pacing on the part of the level designer there.

It's easy to misconstrue your comment as applying to this thread, which you clarified was not the case. Not sure what you mean by whiney threads, any criticism could be seen as whining I guess. I really hate people who come back with worthless 'Ad Hominim' arguments - Google ad hominim to get the gist of what this means.

Not encountered that yet. The only problem I've seen at the moment is the NPC in the camp who tells you about Warden's Keep reappearing even though I've completed that content. I spoke to him again and he eventually disspared for good.

One more "Not a fan of..." observation:

Examples of modern-day dialogue in a game whose milieu is far removed from our own reality. I've seen phrases such as "Hey guys..." and "To be honest..." in Dragon Age Codex entries. These 'modernisms' are a sign of an author's lapse in concentration when writing dialogue. It's as cringey as hearing Gandalf in Lord of the Rings shout "Hey dudes, run like the clappers...the Balrog is coming!" :)

Most certainly not a fan of the Dead Trenches section of the game. It's far to long and is dragging on to the point that it's become a chore, not a challenge. It's just one long trudge through samey-looking maze-like rock tunnels with nothing but Darkspawn, Shriekers and Spider 'Star Trek beam in' ambushes.

The pacing could have been better with a few more calmer moments as you progress through the tunnels, such as earlier when you met some Legion dwarfs and the crazy dwarf in the passages you could chat and trade with.

As it is, I'm getting burnt out on all these repetative ambushes and need something else to happen on my travels. I'll be glad when I find this damned Paragon so I can get out of here :)

*** POSSIBLE DEAD TRENCHES AND BROODMOTHER SPOILER ALERT ***

Theencounter with the Broodmother has to rate as the most frustrating pile of crap I've experienced in any game. I'm on my 4th attempt and keep getting wiped. Went through all my Lyrium trying to keep everyone alive with mass heal, The Broodmother is tough (orange difficulty obviously) and has 4 tentacles (yellow difficulty) that attack you, but to make things even more of an annoying chore, you get 2 waves of 4 genlocks piling into the fight too. So that's the Broodmother attacking, 4 tentacles and 4 genlocks. Nine against 4 is just plain bollocks. I'm totally burnt out on all the repetative ambushes getting to this damn encounter too. Very bad pacing.

I got so pissed off and frustrated at this nonsense I must have invented 5 new swear words and almost crushed my mouse in the enraged death grip I had on it after I got wiped for the 3rd time. I suspect there will be few players who will view this as an enjoyably challenging encounter :)

-Dog needs more skills. His great at the beginning but when all the other characters start lvling he becomes 'weak'

-Inventory storage. so many times I've had to destroy items and buy the 'extra pack'(+10) and find that it becomes full too! Just with the crafting items, potions and spare armors takes about half-3/4 of the total space.

You should be able to summon a minion to take items to sell, and items to store back in camp. that'll be much easier.

-Sten... he seems like a flat character compared to the others.

-Journal. being able to clear/del a quest from the journal. E.g i accepted a quest from Lothering but couldn't 'complete' it or a quest thats not active anymore(cannot convince npc). But it still shows up in the Journal. makes it looks messy and it looks like you have more to do.

-More armour for the rouges/thief classes. (leather armour) also the option for 1 hand sword/dagger+ shield skill-tree for the rouge. (as it stands its bows and duel-wielding. during masters, i sometimes want a little defense/resistance...)

-Solid party members. if I'm blocking a door with Shale, enemys shouldn't be able to run through/push my tank to get to my back characters... unless there obviously triple the size or high level... Also applies to dragon corpses- you can run through their bodys...

About the only things I disliked about DAO was the lack of really unique and distinctive gear. Even a lot of the stuff that was there was essentially the same, sometimes with a different texture. For example, Wade's Superior Drakeskin armour just looked like any other piece of standard light armour in the game. It just would have been nice to have more truly unique stuff.

Aside from that, lack of a lesbian Morrigan option. But that's more of a "I wish there was" rather than "I'm Not a fan of..." I guess.

The rest, I'm pretty damn happy with.

The banter. Just because it can get cut off and I prefer it in a conversation window so I can look at it later in the conversation log.

I kind of also wish we had more stuff to do with dog, like giving him a cuddle or telling him he is a good boy. It makes you feel all warm and fluffy inside.

-arbitrary triggers that cause enemies to charge at me whether they see me or not (Mage tower, temple of Andraste). Of course with traps, grenades and stealth, this is an easy way to eliminate large groups of enemies ;)

-Forced dialog before a boss fight that makes a stealthy approach and strategic positioning impossible. And if there happens to be a door that is closed behind you, or a doorway that the AI has trouble going trough (like the one in Soldier's keep where you fight Sophia, most likely some sort of bug), it makes some fights pretty damn tough.

About "Beam in" ambushes...

The Deep Stalkers, as mentioned in the Codex, do ambush people by jumping out of the ground. When I get attacked by them, I do see them crawling out of the ground. Spiders also come off the ceiling. So all "beam in" ambushes are not really that...

The light armor are indeed pretty weak-looking, and as far as I know (I don't play a mage yet), mage robes are virtually non-existent, past the one you wear at the beginning.

Not a big fan of the lack of numbers, too. The fact that you can't either know how long your debuffs last, or see them in some way on the enemies especially is annoying. How do you know when to apply it again?

I'm not a big fan either of the "before boss cutscene". Just screws your hidden rogue up, before you get Stealth III.

Writing in the supposedly-romantic dialogues. If you can't get it above the "Dawson's Creek" threshold of credibility/non-cringeworthiness, just leave it out.
