I tried to find this in the forums but was not finding anything specific to my problem.  I apologize if this is a repost.

I had completed one game in ME 1 and wanted to install the DLC Pinnacle station.  I downloaded it from EA and since I have installed it, I have not been able to start the game again.  The screen showing "play, configure, support," etc. shows up and when I click on Play.  I get the following message: "Mass Effect has stopped working - a problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I was running the game on a digital download from direct 2 drive, patched to v1.02 and it was fine before Pinnacle station installation
I have unistalled the whole game multiple times trying to save my settings and save files, just my save files, and finally with saving nothing and I cannot get the game to start after reinstallation.

Problem Details:
Mass Effect 1 downloaded from direct 2 drive and Pinnacle Station DLC from EA
Game will no longer load, program stops when windows encounters an error (see above)
Started:  After I installed Pinnacle Station DLC downloaded from EA
Frequency: Any time i try to start the game, even after unistall
Steps I have taken: 
Unistalled the game
Reinstalled numerous times:
1. Installed game, patch 1.01, installed Bring Down the Sky, installed pinnacle station, installed patch 1.02 = Failed
2. Installed game, patch 1.01, installed Bring down the sky, patch 1.02 = failed
3. Installed game, patch 1.01, patch 1.02 = failed - this was the origional isntallation i did when it was working 

I hope I followed the correct format for you guys.  Please let me know if similar problems have been reported and if you know of any way to fix this.  I will try to provide any additional info you need

The only thing that really jumps out of that is the extreme age of the graphics driver, actually, although that isn't necessarily always a problem when your video graphics card is fairly old, as in your case. I think that some tests with somewhat newer drivers could prove to be useful.
