I say, alternate costumes are free to other games aren't they?

No.

Just because the DLC is really good, it doesn't mean that "it should have been in the game, waaa", either.

I'm sure everybody, including myself, would like to get more for less, but trying to construct an objective argument for why you should get X for free is always doomed to fail. Pay up or pipe down... ;)

Did I say the Lair of the shadow broker should be for free? What I mean is comestic crap like these appearances could be for free.

It doesnt really advantage them in any way to make DLC free. They have already offered some weapons pack and DLC from the Cerberus network.

Nor is it in their advantage to release this crap that some "self made" creator could have done on their own in like no time.

These packs, releasing them for free, I don't really think it will become a big issue economy wise to have 2 damn appearance packs for free.

I don't know, I'd say two dollars towards goofy outfits is better than two dollars towards a can of soda and a candy bar.  And complex, completely original clothing mods are really hard to do.

Umm.. I don't know. Maybe a lack of an update to fix the various bugs and issues with Reach. Maybe a fix for the online player profile bugs that still haven't been corrected yet. The terrible spawn points on their online map variants have yet to be fixed. I could go on and on. Bungie is the worse game developer I've ever seen. Not only are they full of themselves, but they're pretty lazy when it comes to post launch maintenance and support.

You underestimate the modders out there who have tons of time.

And I rather pay 10 dollars for a story and some shooting then pay 10 dollars for 5 packs of "outfits".

Lol wut.

I admire the modding community BECAUSE what they do takes a lot of work.  They deserved to get paid for it, too.  The fact that they give it out for free--that they put that stuff out knowing that they will never be paid for it since copyright law says so--shows some serious effort and love for the game.  If anyone's "underestimating" them, it's the people who expect them to just pop this stuff out all the time like it was nothing.

However, Bioware is a corporation, and corporations exist to make money.  Therefore, it's pretty much expected that they'd charge you.  I could silk-screen the Pepsi logo onto a T-shirt for my friend, but if they want an "official" Pepsi shirt, they pay money for it.

And I rather pay 10 dollars for a story and some shooting then pay 10 dollars for 5 packs of "outfits".

You can just not buy them, you know.  As for me, spending two bucks on something goofy is acceptible.  I can't do it all the time (otherwise I'd be broke), but every once in a while it's like "lol, Thane's puttin' on his hater shades."

If you don't buy something, you can't complain about being ripped off.  I, for one, will happily pay money to make Miranda put some damn clothes on, just like I'd pay a buck for a candy bar.  I don't need it, and I can definitely think of better ways to spend my money, but a little treat every now and then makes me happy.

You know what? People making award winning modules to games like NWN is the only reason the game is still up and running, not the campaign, not the game itself. Its the modders, the scripters. Yes, and you'll remain with the game broken; because in a story-heavy game having people run around naked in space is a plot hole. If BioWare had put up some effort on putting at least two outfits, then yes, you have a choice. It's optional content.

Currently, it's not. It's a polite way of forcing you to by deliberately cutting (or not making) content that can be essential for maintaining plot cohesion.

And apparently, it works, because people are stupid enough to be ripped off and be glad about it. Trust me, game breaking bug-fixing paid DLC isn't a long strech away...

*facepalm*

the game isn't broken, its your perception of it not being "perfect." everyone on here is obsessed with this game being perfect to their standards or its broken and need to be fixed.

i have no problem having the women on my squad run around in heels or in their skin tight, cleavage showing, outfits. the only one i have a problem with is legions hole and jack because of her lack a boobs everytime i look at her i feel like a pedophile.

if you have a problem with this game, here's an idea... make your own damn game. then you deal with everyone ****ing about it not being perfect, and leave us alone.

Why do people keep saying this?! Zaeed and Kasumi DLC, so they won't be in ME3, they won't get costumes, etc. This will only come true if people like you keep saying this.

Why is that a bad thing (Zaeed/Kasumi in ME3)? I'd say that yeah, they probably won't be squad mates in ME3, but they'd still have a chance at having a short cameo appearance or something, which is absolutely fine with me since I have them both.

If you don't have them, they won't show up. Also yes, the fact that they are DLC means it's highly unlikely that they'd get an appearance pack.

With that logic, you are saying ME3 will not actually acknowledge the consequence with Liara in Lair of the Shadow Broker other than a short cameo because not everyone bought it?

I say, you don't want to pay 1 buck to use the toilet in a restaurant after paying 50 bucks to eat dinner and drink there. Should you also pay 1 buck for each tissue you use, for candles? For a extra glas of water to the wine?

This should be for free since you pay god damn 50 bucks or even more if you take something extra with it.

I am not saying the work the guys or gals do on the apperance is bad, but the idea to pay for it? Thats bad. Im pretty sure the amount of money Bioware gain on this silly pack is much much much more then it costs to make a pack like this. Hell just hire a happy modder guy and he do it for free, just to show off his skills. Also then you might find potential quality modders out there to get on your team. Bit like Valve have done through their time as a developer.

lol I love you.

Like I said many times over the months.

They sold you a car for the normal 20k price. But it has no windows paint nor rims.

Then they come with the excuse of saying "we are selling you the paint....because it takes a lot of work to do the paint"

Then there are those who actually see the trick... and those who dont. Lets leave it at that. EA is aiming at those who dont see the trick... thats their audience. The rest of us... well sucks to be us :P

they already sold us a complete game with a waxy finish, not a windowless car. like i said it's your preception of "perfect" and you just being too attached with your money to part with 2 mere dollars. get a life that doesn't include being an idiot on the internet

My suggestion to you is

1: Do not proclaim that others cannot spend 2 dollars or not
2: Do not call people idiots
3: Do not tell people to get a life.

Clearly since you seemingly see us that do not accept paying for a appearance pack in a roleplaying game for idiots. You seem to miss the point that some people seemingly say the same about you since you would buy this 2 buck.

No save your 2 bucks and get a proper DLC or the ME3 collectors edition and grab a pizza instead with extra all.

I am not buying any pack who do not add to story, character development or activity. This is a roleplaying game, not League of Legends 5 v 5ing sort of game. Weapon packs, Appearance packs do not add a single thing to the experience of a roleplaying game.

There is no value to it, there for it should be free, it do not add anything of depth and development.

That assumes that you compare small DLC packs to using the restroom at a restaurant. Another way to look at it would be ordering two chocolate eclaires for desert after your meal, which the restaurant most assuredly is going to add to your bill.

The overwhelming sense that I'm getting from everyone rambling on about how the Appearance Packs should be free is "WAH! WAH! I don't want to pay for the hard work of others!" BioWare has been MORE than generous with their free DLC; far more generous than any other developer that I can recall. So yeah, I'll happily spend $2 and treat myself to some new outfits for my crew. And no, I don't feel like I'm being taken advantage of.

Like it or not, corporate entities are not in the habit of doing work for free. I suspect many of you would happily drop $1.50 for a candy bar or a can of soda at the grocery store without breaking into some rant about how Mars, Incorporated and Pepsi Co. are stealing your money by playing on your hunger and thirst, yet here you sit crying about BioWare "ripping you off" by not giving you their hard work for free and playing off your obsessive-compulsive need to have Garrus in shiny new armor or to cover up Miranda's cleavage.

Food and drink are necessities. New outfits for your squad in a videogame are luxuries. Which of those two do you think has more reason to be free?

what

heard of. at no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you
even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought.
everyone is this room is now dumber for having to listen to it. i award
you no points, and my god have mercy on your soul

you put no value in it, but i do. i enjoy dressing up myself and squdmates in all of my games that allow it. as far as the weapon pack i enjoy having a powerful pistol that doesn't run out of ammo so fast, and a shotgun that i will actually use. i enjoy having more and more choices in everything. the alternate appearance packs add to the choices i was aleady given. no it's not something that will make one play the game all over again but it gives some freshness to a stale game.

and you need a lesson in the economics of videogames. a game company ususally have to sell millions of their games to break even on how must it costed them to make them. with the rise in used game sales via ebay and stores such as gamestop, game developers are becomming more and more desperate on finding ways to break even. one way they can do so is with DLC.

get a life that doesn't include being an idiot on the internet

all you need to say is no thanks im not buying it:wizard:

Good news! It may seem silly to a lot of people, but I like changing the costumes now and then. And now I'll have even more options! :)

If you don't like this kind of DLC, then don't buy it.

A game... has to have certain things. an RPG without custom inventory is a bit questionable.

Adding different rims, or changing the pain job is up to us.

But when something is not there to begin with, and is sold later on... then yes that is a bit suspicious.

Like telling you the next COD will have the crosshairs... but it wont show you the animation of the iron sights... nor when you throw grenades..... FPS you expect that to be there. ANd if they sell you the "add on" so you can turn on the iron sights.... even when previous titles had it by default.

Pretty big sign saying "squeeze you for every penny"

but you are right to each his own.

Yeah, I know all about this sort of thing.  I'm a StarCraft fan, and the original is still going strong thanks to the massive effort fans put into making customs maps.  The game is over a decade old.

But the fact remains that Bioware is a corporation, and therefore will do all they can to maek da moneyz.  What did you expect, for them to hand out their products for free?

Oh wait...

I still say, taking two freaking bucks to maybe get some "cloths" on Miranda should have been a freaking option in game from the start.

Oopsie, thanks for pointing out the typo.  Anyway, they probably didn't forsee all the negative feedback on her outfit.  "ZOMG, we make a character sexy, and people complain?  WTF?"  Their fault for assuming that all of us are a bunch of prepubescent boys, but still, it's like Soul Calibur players asking for a patch that makes Ivy's boobs smaller since big bouncy ****** would get in the way during a fight.  Yeah, Miri's outfit annoys me, but biotics are hardly realistic, either.  Besides, plenty of people have the hots for Miranda's "assets" and see no need to put her in armor, even though it'd be a lot better at stopping bullets than a spandex catsuit.

Also the first appearance pack game with freaking "sunglasses" . Is it some kind of joke behind all of this? I seriously say, stuff like this been free before or released in patches. But seemingly the tiniest add on today we need to pay for. Soon the gaming market develop so far we need to pay for a bloody damn patch.

I admit it, if they start charging for patches, I f*cking quit.  However, alternate appearance packs are one of those things you buy for the lulz, and I think you're taking it way too seriously.  It's like complaining about how you should have gotten a pair of jeans for free because they look ugly on you.

Heh, Cheez, I laughed at the thing about Miranda's outfit. Too true. My girlfriend and I both reacted negatively to the increased 'blatant and unnecessary' sexuality bits in ME2; between that and Samara's ridiculous attire ('I'm long past such feelings and yet here are my boobs') I really saw a drop there. But EA must have just assumed we'd dig it. Then again, sales and ratings... enough people dig it so I expect it in the third.
