And even if they were, considering how much they've "pandered" to the 14-year-old X-treme shooter crowd with the thermal clip system and the sexified outfits, I don't think it's too much to ask that they throw a little bone from time to time to their old-school fans.

Especially as it was those self same old-school fans that got them their reputation as Number 1 creator of RPGs in the first place.

And doubley especially as it feels like they no longer seem to care about us old loyal fans and want to pander to the more fickle shooter crowd, a crowd that will just dump them and run when the next "must have" shooter comes out.

"i hope the whiners are happy now they've got their wish of everyone running around in generic armour sets."

I hope that they're not. I hope that Miranda's outfit doesn't come with a proper helmet and it irritates those that whined about non-armoured squadmates the same way that that Bioware's pandering to them irritates me.

Yes. BioWare is clearly "pandering" to the people who didn't like squadies wearing casual clothes in combat by finally giving ONE character honest armor after nearly a year. Your logic is impressive.

It's certainly more impressive than your diction.

If you're seriously trying to dispute the fact that Miranda's new, generic armour is anything less than Bioware "catering to the desires of others" then you should probably find a more educative way to spend your time than calling the intelligence of random internet users into question.

It's clear when comparing the squad attire choices in both Mass Effect games, that the artists wanted to take a different approach with ME2. Style over practicality, you might say. Miranda's new generic armour goes against that. Ergo, it's pandering.

And even if they were, considering how much they've "pandered" to the 14-year-old X-treme shooter crowd with the thermal clip system and the sexified outfits, I don't think it's too much to ask that they throw a little bone from time to time to their old-school fans.

The thermal clips weren't specifically for "14 year old X-treme shooter fans," they were to improve gameplay.

I like Halo and Half life, but that's the extent of my shooter playing, and I thought thermal clips were a good addition.

But I get it, you're a "true fan," and I'm just a console-using (shudder), shooter-obsessed teenager for thinkin gthermal clips were a good gameplay element.

Don't judge the game before we learn anything beyond a teaser trailer (usually not accurate) and a (leaked) blurb that may be subject to change. The term Earth may have even be used simply for marketing purposes.

I agree. Thats why I wait for more info.

I don't get the humanity complaints...

Quoted from EA store descriptions:
ME 1
"Experience a rich and engrossing story where your choices decide the fate of a galaxy"

ME 2
"Prepare yourself for a suicide mission to save mankind."
ME 3
"Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race."

See?

I dont say that I am complaining now. Just wanted to show you why others may have.

Although i wasn't involved in anything
even remotely resembling a heavy firefight, i served in the Russian
navy. If you want to experience a more serious and realistic approach
to combat, maybe you could do that?

Am i supposed to care that
some players dislike the new approach? I love it, and that's what
Bioware did with ME2. I really, really hope that this appearance pack
isn't a sign of things to come in Mass Effect 3.

You always get a choice of what your characters can wear. Even in KOTOR your characters could fight in their underwear but also we got a CHOICE to make them wear all kinds of clothes and armors. So I dont see your point of complaining. You just seem selfish right now.

My point of compaint is that Miranda's catsuit is much more interesting than a generic piece of armour. It does more to show off her personality, and it's much more interesting to look at. Even ignoring her callipgyian figure.

If wanting the developers to continue doing what i want them to do makes me selfish, then i suppose i am selfish.

Well, I guess it's DLC but I was hoping for more story as apposed to some kind of TMNT suit for Tali or whatever it is. I *did* like the 1st one since Jack and Thane's eyes were so disconcerting.

Yeah, it definitely shows more off her...umm...personality.
jk
Then dont buy it. You´ll save yourself 2 bucks and we get some sensible armor. Everyone wins.

Oh i'm going to buy it, if only for the sake of completness.

I'm fine with this kind of get-up being sold as an extra, but i'm vehemently against the idea of ME3 returning to a more practical approach to squadmate attire.

I like the sexified outfits and the thermal clip system but I don't like shooters. I'm also 27 and play Bioware games since the 90's. If by "old-skool lol" you mean 2007 I think I'm more than qualified for that.

Now could you please try to make an argument without insulting those who have different opinions?

And for the rest... geez its a friggin appearance pack that isnt mandatory and even if you buy it you'll be able to toggle it on each character. Its not like "OMG BW IS CATTERING TO QQrs".

Is it insulting to say that someone who's 14 years old is a 14-year-old? Or that traditional shooters appeal more to younger audiences? No. BioWare/EA knew who they were marketing to when they decided to start redisigning combat mechanics and throwing common sense and practicality out the window. So describe for me where I was insulting anyone.

You want to point fingers, point them in Vaz's direction.

If they continue the trend, we should be getting some armor for Samara and Jacob, which is good.

Assuming that "Vaz" is a refence to me... how about we just stop pointing fingers?

You posted an extremely rude response to my thoughts on Miranda's armour. But it's okay, i'll be the bigger man and forgive you.

I feel obliged to point out that i prefer the more-styalised and les-practical attires in ME2, and i am not 14 years old. I'm 25. It's a ridiculous and outdated notion, on a par with the idea that girls don't play video games.

It's good Miranda finally got armor. Too bad it's ruined by that silly looking visor.

Tali looks like she jumped into heavy armor.

Grunt looks ehhh. Whats up with dual-wielding visors?

1. I take it you didn't like the Sentry Interface.

2. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. But in my opinion, its just a different color.

3. What'd you think of Garrus' dual mics for his alt?

1: Maybe it's because we haven't got a good close-up look yet, but to me they just look like a pair of yellow sunglasses.

2: I didn't mean it in a negative way actuelly.

3: Garrus's dual mic doesn't look silly, because it's basicly one piece of equipment. Grunt looks like he's wearing two instead of one.

1. Yeah, its all supposition until we see the whole shebang.

2. Ahh. Still, I like the black. I'll definitely put it on her.

3. I fancy Garrus' dual mics. Grunt does look like he's wearing two eyepieces, but again, we'll only know how it really looks later on.

The "bigger man" wouldn't have posted to say that he hoped all the "whiners" were disappointed and had something else to cry over in an optional downloadable appearance pack which doesn't affect his game in the least. That's just being selfish and bitter.

But apology accepted. I'm prepared to get back on topic if you are.

Oh, and for the future-

Practicality over THIS IS COOL.

That's just how I want it. More ME1 than 2, style wise.

Firstly, the Miranda outfit makes her look like The Baroness from GI Joe, which suddenly makes me actually want her around for a change. Secondly, the fact that they missed a golden opportunity to patch up Legion and give him a 'heavy armor' look makes this a sad, sad day.

People are being unexcellent to each other, so I'll be brief here:

Miranda with armor? Hell yes! Tali with a re-skin? Why not? Looks nice; thank-you, Bioware!

Grunt with some shiny new armor? Definitely cool. :P

I personally advocate a return to practicality, although I would hope that Bioware continues to make each character interesting and unique, whether they're in their casual clothing or armor.

I still don't get what's with everyone(exaggeration) wanting Legion's hole fixed.

It makes him unique and is a major part of his history.

ALL FREE
with the purchase of the retail game on the X360 and PC. Then there's
the fact that virtually every other DLC pack is included free of charge
with the purchase of the PS3 version as well.

Those are worth 20 bucks if you didn't buy the game new. Shivering Isles was 20 bucks. See something wrong? VERY wrong?

And if you bought the game used, you probably paid $40 or less for it, so that extra $20 puts you back at the base cost of a retail game.

Don't like it? Then give the developers your money instead of giving it to GameStop.

That's retarded. The content IS worth 20 bucks, the Cerberus thing IS ONLY consisted of this content, so you buy it for 20 bucks, it IS worth 20 bucks. I bought the game new, but you can't say it's someone fault for not buying the game new that the content is utterly overpriced. Buy ANY game used, DLC content will ALWAYS be the same price. They just announced the Cerberus network for something more than its worth for 2 reasons:
1. To get more sales
2. To get try to get back the money they lost as much as possible

Say what you want but I'll say it again, the Cerberus Network is basically a compilation of DLC, it being overpriced has nothing to do with you not buying the game new. There's no relation whatsoever. But in answer to your question, I don't care about it, the DLC sucked so it wouldn't have been a loss at all. I'd rather get nothing than getting ripped off buying overpriced crap that I wish I didn't loose my time with.

I'd prefer they didn't... it's a part of his character/appeal.
