Officer's dress.
So Some people in the navy are using this weird officer's dress, that should be very comfortable to wear while commanding a space ship,

Weird? The officer's dress is the most modern looking outfit in the entire game!

Good post, Alpha, beat me to it (:

As another user stated, the oddest thing about the whole uniforms issue is the fact that Cerberus paints their logo and publicly comments on everything. Had to actually do some digging in ME1. In ME2, they're everywhere and everyone knows about them. Stealth/Black Ops fail?

Read the second part, Dress Uniforms are mostly only used for formal occasions, like banquets or Meetings, not while commanding a starship.

True enough, but depending on the command, there is some leeway for the crew to choose what uniform they prefer to wear, and there are sever options, especially for commissioned and non-commissioned officers. Apparently, some officers prefer that semi-formal uniform to the more utilitarian one favored by the enlisted crew. While I noticed this and found it just a bit odd, it's well within plausibility. Trust me when I say that you really don't want to get into the details of the regulations and typical wear of all the variations of naval uniforms. There's more than just 'utility' and 'dress', and I'll leave it at that.

They're fictional officers in a fictional military under a fictional government. For all you know those stripes denote their bowling stats.

Believe it or not these oversights are quite common, and not the greatest trespass BioWare or any other developer has ever made. It's fine if you want consistency, but that's pretty much it for this nitpick thread.

I'm surprised you didn't cite Ashley wearing her goddamn fugly Sirta armor when you encounter her.

What I do agree with is that there should be a standardized armor that is appropriate for the environment. I can't stand pink and white considering the point of colour on a uniform is geneally for camouflage not to stand out. Though what I would like to point out is. Relating anything in the current military to future military, is it isn't going to be the same. Everything could be different for all we know and unless u would like a large report on the structure on alliance protocol, just live with it

It more so seems the longer this game has been out the more people decide to pick apart things in the game.

I find it very hard to believe you spent so much time inspecting every Alliance officers uniform to notice the discrepencies and break immersion.

Granted, it may have been your 5th or 6th playthrough when you noticed, and if thats the case i think your points are pretty null.

Now if you noticed on your first playthrough i think you're missing the point of the game. Honestly i dont see how you could have just 'noticed' those things, its not like its super duper obvious. Its a little lapel on their arm.

And getting mad at Bioware for "dropping the ball" is not a fair judgment, in the size and scope of these games, they got so much right its hard to fault them for insignias being inconsistent. This is a large game with many aspects and its pretty ungrateful to pick apart a very minor thing.

Be happy with the amazing games we were given and stop searching for things to complain about.

Different uniforms are not necessarily unrealistic.

When the US Marine Corps for example first transitioned to the Marpat digital camo pattern, the transition wasn't overnight. It was introduced in 2002 but the full transition wasn't until 2004. So in between if you walked around on a Marine Corps base, you would have seen some Marines wearing the new digital camouflage utilities, and some in the older woodland pattern.

Prior to that even with the woodland pattern they came in two different materials. One was heavier, and one was lighter, so even with the same pattern there were slight differences visually. Jungle boots could also either have green or black canvas, and t-shirts that were worn under the camouflage blouse (shirt) could be either tan or green.

i spent 6 years in the airforce and its very common to see lots of different combos and variations of uniform. as an F-15 crew cheif i wore BDUs(camo) every day. but my first Sgt. (Same squadron) wore dress uniform everyday. as said above during transition to new uniforms many that worked side by side with me had a very different uniform. and dont even talk about deployments cause in the sand box u wear what every u got jungle, desert, nobodys cares.

I can honestly say that I was having far too much fun playing the games to notice something such as this.

Also the boarding of the Normandy was grossly played down. The supposedly hand picked elite crew of the Normandy suddenly became pushovers and failed to provide any kind of effective resistance, very dissapointing. It absolutely should have been a playable mission, and if not that, it should at least have been a much more impressive fight to watch as a cutscene.

Ye I agree. It's also funny how the Collectors were able to quickly subdue and capture all of the Normandy's crew, but were apparently unable to locate and capture a crippled man stumbling along the entire ship shouting curses all the time while IDA shouted him instructions from the intercom... that completely got me :D

It's even funnier how Cerberus looked much more militaristic than the Alliance :P But I love Cerberus, so I won't object.
