Is there any sort of equation as to who pulls you into the Normandy at the end? Particularly when the squad mates you take to battle the big boss baddy at the end bite the dust? It seems, to me, to be just random, which strikes me as strange as EVERYTHING else has some sort of mathmatical equation.

Ok, yeah I did that... so hard... I hate batarians... seriously hate them. Vorcha? They're cool. Batarians? Scum. Less than scum. In arrival I have a hard time warning the Batarian colony on my paragon character (I still do, but It's like dammit I want to let the bataraians BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN!!!!)

Zaeed: Avoid, Kill After
Thane: Taken by Swarm
Mordin: Second Team Lead
Grunt: Non Upgraded Weapon
Jack: No Armor
Samara (Non Loyal): Escort
Tali: Held the Line
Legion (Non Loyal): Final Battle
Jacob: Vents
Kasumi: Shields
Thane/Garrus to fight Occulus
Thane/Garrus for Long Walk with Miranda as Biotic
Legion/Garrus Final Battle
That should work I believe based on the original image in this post and still let me do all the loyalty missions for XP. Normally I wouldn't care about XP but since it actually transfers over that's pretty big.

Getting Shepard to survive with no one loyal is easy enough, especially if you upgrade the Normandy so that you're at least starting with a full set of cannon fodder when you start your way through the Collector Base. Leaving Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed to Hold the Line makes for a pretty strong defense even when they're not loyal. Miranda survives as a second fireteam leader even when not loyal as well. You also maximize your defense by sacrificing your weaker squadmates for the tech position, escort, and biotic field.N7Infernox wrote...

This part isn't going to work. If you have Thane in your squad, he will always be killed by the non-upgraded weapon. The reason there is a list of squadmates after his name is in case people don't recruit him, then it goes to the next one on the list.KodiakAsh wrote...

So Grunt will be the one you'll want taken by the swarm. Take him with Tali, he'll die before her and she'll still die when it comes time to hold the line.

Yes, that's how long we've been working on this guide, since before Kasumi.Jitawa wrote...
Hmm.. the original guide for "Only Legion and Tali survive" in the links predates the addition of Kasumi.
I think it's an easy enough fix, though. At a glance, I'd say you'd just screw up Samara's loyalty mission by scaring Morinth off. Without upgrading the shields, Kasumi is first in line to die. Garrus will need to be taken by the Seeker Swarms then, so plan for that. Use Grunt as the second fireteam leader. Bring Samara and Miranda to the final boss.

Perfect, thanks. I wasn't sure if I brought someone along to fight the Occulus if it mattered or not.

Everyone was loyal, but Tali still died. I restarted the mission and sent Tali as the escort instead of Grunt and she lived, everyone lived.
I wwas using Mordin and Garrus in the reaper battle.

The squad members left to hold the door before you go to fight the Reaper have to have a certain combined strength. You can maximise this by removing the weaker squad members (e.g. Mordin, Tali etc.) from this lineup. Do this by sending them to escort the crew back to the Normandy, or taking them with you in your squad. There's an excellent article on Mass Effect Wiki which explains exactly how to get the perfect ending.Iezza wrote...

Thanks to you kind person I completed the game without any deaths.. OFF Topic :should I buy ME3 ?
The game is almost unanimously agreed to be great right up to the final 10 minutes where opinions diverge in two very vehemently opposed directions - depending on which camp you fall into, you may need therapy, drugs or a new hobby.

I'm looking for a particular outcome for the suicide mission. I would like to keep only Tali, Jack and Morinth.
Normal recruting except
Legion -> Given to Cerberus
Grunt -> Still in his tank
Zaeed -> not recruted (kill after)
Normandy's Upgrade : Armor
Loyalty mission :
Tali
Samara: To get Morinth
Kasumi (to get the Locust ^^ )
Jack
It my second playthrough with my renegade Sherpard, he is already level 30, so I don't care for the extra XP of the other mission
-------THE APPROACH----------------------------------------------------
Armor Check: ok
Shield Check (squad Tali & Kasumi)
Thane: Dead
Weapon check
Garrus: Dead
---------THE BASE-----------------------------------
The Vents
Specialist: Mordin
Fire team: Miranda
-> Mordin Dead
The Long Walk
Specialist: Miranda
squad : Tali (L) & Jacob
Fire team : Kasumi (L)
Escort : Jack (L)
-> Kasumi & Mordin Dead
--------THE END GAME----------------------------
Final Fight
Squad Tali (L) & Morinth (L)
Hold The Line
Miranda -> Dead
It seems to be possible this way, or did i miss something ?

Lives:
Miranda, Garrus, Mordin, Thane, Additional Crew including Kelly Chambers
Dies:
Jacob, Jack, Grunt, Tali, Legion, Samara, Kasumi, Zaeed
If it makes it easier, adjustments can be made to the fates of Thane, Jacob, and/or Samara.

1. If I have undertsnad it right you cant just complete the suicide mission with just Shepard surviving? You need two squadmates?
2. So If question 1 is correct, Im going to choose the two most renegade squadmates, I have already choose one and it is Morinth

This is what I know for a fact: I had everyone but Zaeed, and of those, everyone but Miranda was loyal. Legion was carried off by the seeker swarms, Mordin died holding the line, and Miranda and Garrus went with me to the final fight. All good so far. And then Miranda and Garrus both died.
Legion died because Miranda was my biotic spec, Mordin died due to low HTL score, Miranda died due to being unloyal at the final fight... but Garrus? Why? How? It doesn't make any sense, but I'm positive that it happened.
If anyone could shed some light on this mystery, it would be much appreciated.

Clever. Is there anyway to have the Crew and Chakwas die too, and only go forward with a loyal Tali and Legion? I'm not sure how much taking the non-loyal Zaeed off escort duty would screw things up. If it wound up being Tali, Legion, and Zaeed - then I could kill him after by doing his loyalty quest... but I'm not sure how much a defender like him screws things up.
