I probably should rewrite it somehow.

Wow, thank you very much for the explanation. Every guide or post I've seen mentioning this made it sound like it was another choose-teammate interrupt, pretty much like the other sections of this mission (diversion team, tech specialist, fire team leader, dome shield).Pacifien wrote...
You're never asked to have specific people hold the line, and I don't believe that sequence is even referenced as holding the line. That's what fellow forum posters have grown accustomed to calling it. It's the defense portion, and if you leave the wrong sort of people for the defense, you will lose someone. In this case, the important part isn't who you take with you to fight the final boss, it's who you leave behind. Many people lost Mordin or Tali because of this.
I probably should rewrite it somehow.
Now I get it. Thank you again!

In an effort to organize the guide into a more readable fashion beginning with the addition of the flowchart. I'd rather not keep altering Ecael's posts as I was uncomfortable doing so in the first place.Mesina2 wrote...
Why is Ecael's thread locked and this one made?
Makes sense.

Where does it say you will lose 50% of the crew if you do Legion's loyalty mission?Pepper4 wrote...

That's the Normandy crew not the actual squad. If you don't immediately go after the collectors Chambers dies in place of unknown collonist #1.
You should be able to do legions loyalty before that happens but if you do too many other missions first then it becomes a choice.

No. The Normandy crew survived in all of my playthroughs. I see the woman from Horizon dying in the tube. I do Legion's loyalty after the crew is abducted (there is no other way, you can't trigger the mission any sooner).BobSmith101 wrote...

The guide says that if I do one mission after the collector attack, 50% of the Normandy crew dies.
So maybe I don't understand something (poor english), or maybe my memory just sucks?

One thing I've seen is that a person cannot go to the galaxy map before activating Legion, otherwise the crew will be abducted before you get the chance to do his loyalty mission. This is assuming you've saved Legion for last.
Really?
That's...weird.

You can do Legion's loyalty before the crew is abducted. After you obtain the IFF, you go directly to the AI Core, activate Legion, talk to him twice, get his loyalty mission. The crew will be abducted after you do the mission.Pepper4 wrote...

The reason is that after you retrive the IFF, you may have all (or most) of the loyal missions done. If you've done all, the game wont force you to do optional missions. But as soon as you activate Legion, the game will realise that you have yet to have the chance to get all members loyal, and will let you on one more mission.
If you go to the galaxy map before you activate Legion, the game will still register that you have had the chance to get all members loyal, and will begin Jokers mission. IF you activate Legion before going to the galexy map, it will postpone the abduction for one more mission.
In short, sort out Legion as soon as you finish the IFF mission.
P.S Thank you Maelon, Ecal and Pacifin. Hopefully this will lesson the amount of threads asking these questions.

Ok but I would like to ask, i am free to go "last minute shopping" and visit places without losing anyone. My crew was just abducted before i saved and turned off tonight. I just wanna make sure i can get any missed upgrades that i maybe able to get now and visit Liara to collect my pay and set more of those little things up in the ShadowBroker ship. Helping Liara with being the Broker is quite fun lol.
Also does it matter if all my people are fully upgraded, I cant seem to use their points unless i have them on the team?
Not entirely sure (never thought to test it
Take note that planet mining certainly doesnt count as missions, so mine as much as you can for your upgrades (or use gibbed

This guide was a great help but the second fire team leader is actually called a distraction leader when it ask for you to pick, doesnt say Fire team leader until after you picked.

I found that old Prolog tool Smeg 1.1 (someone should change the name
Seems Prolog can't derive this properly or the final equation is incorrect or maximizing some score instead of having a
Example for my speedrun:
REACHING THE SECOND DOOR
with [garrus,miranda,lJacob,lJack,lKasumi,lMordin,zaeed,grunt]...
No deaths. Good leadership, Shepard!
HOLDING THE LINE
we find [garrus,miranda,lKasumi,lMordin,zaeed,grunt],
having a hold-the-line score of 2
(Shepard went to the boss with: [lJacob,lJack])
Held the line!!It's missing all the solutions with lJacob on the line for some reason. I can replace any of those two with lKasumi or lMordin and still have the score >= 2.
Actually, I probably don't need grunt there - then the solver finds those solutions! (Yes, I do know how to use the semicolon.)
Or maybe I do? Will the collector ship mission trigger with 7 party members?

It's true. In my attempts to optimize the program a bit, I made some decisions/assumptions, not all of which were correct.
Oh, and the name is a deliberate Red Dwarf reference.
