Havent played ME2 in like 8 months and now I'm playing it on PS3 so I forgot almost everything.  So which class is the fastest at killing/clearing a room on insanity except for soldier?  Soldier was good but boring and I remembered that I would always hide behind something, spam adrenaline rush, use weapon and that was it which was pretty boring.

Mattock Soldier and Vanguard are probably the fastest.

Soldiers are still fast as hell. There are some dedicated posters here that are more qualified to discuss speed runs, if that's what you're into. If you're a decent player, the Vanguard is probably the fastest option, barring the Mattock Soldier.

You could try a Claymore Soldier using Hardened AR for a challenge, but I'm not sure how fast that would be.

Adepts and Sentinels can be fast also, using Warp Bombs.

How do you want to play?

Fastest? Soldier with Adrenaline.
Most stylish killing? Infiltrator with cloak or Vanguard with Biotic charge.
Best at methodical/technical killing? Engineer with Incinerate/Cryo. Overload. Drone, + Warp ammo, etc.
Best at taking hits and dishing it out? Sentinel. Tech armor. Nuff' Said.
The biotic is fun too but at only at veteran or below. You got to knock out armor and shield/barriers in order for a biotic to employ their skills. Warp is handy but otherwise playing on hardcore or insanity is a bit of a chore IMO.  Maybe I jsut don't play that class to its strength enough.  Just my personal play style.

Engineer is my fav BTW.  Tougher than Soldier, Infiltrator or Vanguard on insanity but doable if played right with the right squad.

I've beat the game on insanity with my engineer and I did it with Warp ammo for my bonus power plus AR  training (Mattock rifle all the way).  Warp ammo is always on so I  don't have to wait for other powers to recharge.  Inferno/cryo for armor.  Overload for shield.  Drone for taking bad guys out of cover, damage and a simple distraction.  Just bring a tank/soldier type and a biotic specialist (anyone with Warp) and you can dominate ME2 on insanity with an engineer.

I'm going to say vanguard overall. Some places he may be slower but a huge number of rooms a lot of combat gets skipped thanks to charge.

As others have pointed out, sometimes the Vanguard can skip half a fight simply by charging the furthest enemy in the room.

I don't like it because of its long CD. If it's about getting out of a bad situation,  medigel works fine and it's a lot faster.

I use Neural Shock for 'organic' missions. 3 seconds CD. It stuns enemies when they have no defenses. If they have shields or barriers, they get staggered, which is a really nice feature.
For geth missions. I take Energy Drain.

Soldier definatly, AR and a good rifle like the mattock or revanant makes insanity a breeze in most places.

On Insanity.

While I agree that the Vanguard or Soldier can clear a room quick, I would argue that the adept or Sentinel can do it faster, the only difference is they need the right team members to combo thier biotics with, while the others do not.

The trick is to know that stripping the defense of 1 enemy can lead to an immediate cascade of biotic carnage on everyone close to it.

Why does anyone want to complete missions asap? If that's what you're looking for, go Infiltrator. You can easily sneak past most enemies. On some missions you hardly have to kill anyone at all.

I don't like (ab)using spawn points, but if that's your thing you gonna love Combat Drones. They can stop respawn without Shepard getting there in the first place. Aim > Cast > no more spawning. Soldiers and Infiltrators can move fast/unseen, Sentinels TA and Adepts with Barrier can sprint to those points, shield down > cast TA/Barrier > keep running > no more spawning.

Overall there isn't a huge difference in killing speed between classes, all can kill very fast. The combat classes have a slight advantage early on because they can use powerful weapon types starting the game, casters catch up on Collector Ship.

It's also worth noting that Soldiers (Vanguards and Infiltrators) have time dilation, Soldiers can fight in slowmo >60% of combat time for example - this changes in-game time and actual play time.

^You can use AR and charge to clear spawn points too. I suppose Sentinels can just tank their way to spawn points. The only class that can't skip stuff easily is the adept, I suppose.

Even the Adept can do it with Stasis or Barrier and a good squad makeup (AoE stagger effects help a lot). I do wonder what the point is to playing the game, though, if one intends to skip a third or more of it.

Another thing about spawn points; most of em have enemies coming in waves. Re-spawn is triggered when a sufficient number of enemies are death - keeping one or two enemies alive will stop re-spawn, buying time to get there.

Sometimes enemies matter; Dantius Towers throws some FENRIS at player - for example, the moment you kill one, another will come in to take its place. Hacking the mech will stop this from happening and the entire fight can be completed without another mech spawning.

I did it on Tali's loyalty mission by just rushing forward and spamming medigel.  Any class can skip spawns, though obviously some are better at it than others.

OmFg...I am only level 8 with my engineer but I am just tearing the enemies in insanity a new hole to crap out of because engineer is just that powerful right now. I have 3 pts in overload, 1 in incinerate, 1 in drone, 10 demolisher and 1 warp ammo btw.

As most in here have said, the vanguard most likely wins, but I'd have to say a warp bombing, stasis wielding super adept (as in bringing thane and miranda on most if not all missions that are possible) is a pretty big contender if you're talking about who can wipe out all enemies the fastest without skipping spawns. I've had little to no trouble keeping enemies choked right into the area that they would spawn at while on side missions, and killing them before they even get a chance to get out into the surrounding area. Thane's incisor and Miranda's tempest are also very useful in ending enemies that have been pulled or ragdolled in singularity so that you don't always have to waste someone's warp.

It depends on the room as well.

On top of the Shadow Broker ship, nothing clear the enemies out of the way faster than Pull/Throw/Slam/Singularity to get them off the deck, and into the wind to be blown away into the distance.

Same could be said for Collector platforms, a quick pull/throw combo to get the bad guys over the edge and out of the action.

Mattock + AR is broken. Speed runs using this combo are about as legit as god-modding.

Depending on the situation. I used to think the combat classes would finish fastest, until the time my 1st Insanity Adept wiped out Samara's Recruitment end boss + minions fight in 3-4 singularities.

Noone got tossed over the balcony; it was a enclosed room, and all I remembered was a few Warp Explosion by Miri and Thane (done by the AI, not by my orders, I hadn't even gotten around to planning which minion to debuff), then "Where did everyone go?"

I estimated it probably ended in about 20+ seconds.

That's pretty similar to my engineer at that lvl.  Other engineer players will tell you to go with Neural shock or shield drain for your bonus power but IMO that's just another power you have to wait for the cooldown period with.  At least with a ammo bonus power (Warp ammo was my choice too BTW), it's always on and you can use your other skills more freely.
