I agree whole heartily with you here Phub88. Unfortunatly Im on PC so I cant rent it but I will not touch the MP component and that will be me done with ME. Which is something that I could never see myself saying about a BW game but what can ya do?

ME3 with the combat tweaked to suit MP would have to be real-time meaning we lose time-dialation powers and the power wheel. Basicly we get a GOW clone. So the question is will it be better than GOW and make people want to play ME mp over other generic shooters out there?

The answer for me is no, and so I say well is it worth lessening the Sp experience for it?

You know, to me, the most solid proof that Mass Effect 2 has multiplayer is that Bioware has refused to comment on any of the threads, even the ones popping up in sections frequented by devs.

This is actually from the DA2 forum, but it is relevant to the discussion.

bioware if you want to really rake in those console sales you better
make it multiplayer. I mean why aren't you shooting for MW2 current
console popularity?

Sure, that kind of sales numbers
would be great, but it requires a little more grace than just slapping
multiplayer into the game to reach that level of popularity.

I do hope the ME team heeds this warning from their sister DA2 team.

I would love a battlefield clone/spin off (Not COD, battlefield) that takes place in ME., but I don't think competitive MP would work in the TPS/RPG-ish gameplay that makes up the trilogy. I wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised by it though.

Ever play Battlefield 2142? I loved it!

I love ME2's gamplay myself and I think it would do great as a spin-off. Putting it with ME3 would take up much needed disc space from the singleplayer.

Yeah, it was my favorite battlefield so far, titan mode is the best gamemode I think I've ever played.

Now that I think of it, the tech in 2142 at least looks similar to that in ME.

Alright every one listen up!!!!

A few days ago i saw an interview with Casey Hudson & he was saying that they would be,"adding things that people wouldnt expect".So based on BioWares current track record of making money instead of art,i think i can safely say that there will absolutaly be multiplayer in Mass Effect 3.Hey Casey,do you honestly think that we wouldnt "expect" you guys to sell out? Of course you wouldnt judging by all of the Halo & Call of Duty fans on here who keep praising Mass Effect 2 as a superior effort to the first game even though they havent played Mass Effect 1 or dont understand the full concept of an RPG.....People attack others who say that they took all of the RPG elements out of the series with the second game by saying something like,

"Its not a (JRPG) its an (Action RPG)the role playing is still there".

Well did you know that Mass Effect 1 had all of those things that people say were "removed" in ME2? So the fact remains that they did change it from a JRPG to a Shooter with a bunch of basic & lazy decision making & variables.......Mass Effect 2 killed the series & Mass Effect 3 will kick it while it is down.....

I imagined it and definitely didn't like it.

However, if there absolutely HAS to come some form of multiplayer gameplay, then I would have to go with some kind of Horde mode (a la Gears of War 2), where you get to play soldiers on Earth, battling Husks and such.

Unfortunately the latest PC GAMER mag. is talking about rumors that ME3 will have some form of MP. The writer was not sure if it is co-op, a separate team based shooter fighting on Earth while Shepard is gathering allies, or it might not have any at all. I just wish that the developers would come out and say one way or the other. Of course alot of the anticipation that is being generated by the uncertainty is so much free publicity for them that it is in their best interest NOT to answer that question, at least not until the last minute.

Multiplayer would be nice only if the single player was great as always. if they do add it, just buy the freakin game and dont play the multiplayer. I say yes to multiplayer

Multiplayer hasn't even been announced. There's no reason to suggest Bioware is selling out because of something they haven't even done.

First of all, Mass Effect is not a JRPG what so ever. A JRPG is a Japanese Role Playing Game. Mass Effect has always been an action-RPG. Mass Effect 2 just has more action.

Secondly, you are overreacting. ME2 did not kill the series, it brought the series to  a better life, though it did make some sacrifices that hopefully will be fixed or a compromise made in-between the two styles. But again, those sacrifices did not kill the series.

I don't mind multiplayer as long as it's kept as far away from the story as possible. A co-op horde mode type of deal is something that I wouldn't mind. Players would be able to replay maps with a variety of enemies with them. It would also allow for some hilarious combos: Sentinel shockwave -> singularity -> vanguard charges grounded enemies -> infiltrator snipes air'd enemies while Sentinel/Adept get warp happy.

Is it that obligatory thread of the week time already?

No, sorry, but I do *not* want multiplayer in MassEffect 3, in any form.

Mass3 is the conclusion to a single player experience focused on the characters and the story, it's not about shooting things up, it's about how you [Shepard] struggle against a seemingly unstoppable alien menace to all spacefaring life, and how you shape the galaxy through the interactions with the people during your journey to stop said menace.

Not "Imma gunna sh00t sum n00bs lololol!!!1!one1".

Further, the game has a budget, that budget is fixed, then that budget is divided to the several departments required to make the game (design, gameplay, script, characters, etc), including multiplayer in it would forcibly detract from said budget and, inevitably, hinder the single player experience, an experience that was the sole reason we became invested in this trilogy to begin with.

All this said, ultimately it won't matter, it's BioWare's decision, the only thing I, as a consumer can (and will) do should Mass3 have a MP component to it, is simply to not purchase the game.

Having different races but the same weaponry sounds boring. Bioware will need to introduce more guns to the arsenal for that.
