Thanks Dave. It is good to hear that there were no game stopping bugs. I'll look into the bug you mentioned and I guess I didn't finish the Orrick quests, I'll need to work on that. He is a campaign dialog so hopefully it'll work the next time you talk to him (after I fix the dialog, of course).

Thanks again for BETA testing and reporting. Once we get this done, it would be great to get a MP group together and run through the campaign adding some role playing to the experience.

Later,
Jer

I just found out about chapter 3 AND chapter 4! I continued from my old save games. Unfortunately, I ran into some bugs:

- Orrick and the "merchants" in DE4 wouldn't sell me their stuff. The option is in the dialogue, but the merchant window wouldn't show up.

- After returning to "Arundel" with the heartstone gem, he gave his evil speech and ran off. The real Arundel wasn't in his bedroom so I couldn't continue to chapter 4.

(Possible bug?) Back in the prologue, wasn't there a way to charm the wolf so it would leave the house peacefully? I have druid in my party and I had no choice but to kill it.

Great mod, keep up the good work!

Thanks Red Monster for beta testing. I'll look into the bugs you reported. Some of the shops/temples are not fully functional as of yet. I'm hoping to have a custom UI for healers like the temples in the original. Maybe the BGR team will make one for me ;-)

Orrick's dialogue needs some finishing work now that chapter 3 is complete.

About the wolf in the prologue, I never play a druid so I haven't seen the charm thing before. I'll look at the scripting of the area and the wolf to see how that worked. Makes sense though.

I'm working on chapter 4 (Dorn's Deep) at the moment and things are progressing well. I made a few custom placeables so far and they real add to the feel of the areas. Probably no custom metatiles for this chapter.

No problem. Regarding the wolf, I think a ranger could charm it as well, but I never tried it with the original IWD1.

Hi, Jeremy,
I'll be downloading and starting my test run in a couple of days. I still have one mod on the go, but am just finishing it, and of course playing on Sundren, the PW.

Were you able to fix Orrick's conversation for the preceeding chapter?

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dave,
I did fix Orrick's conversation (hopefully) and it is a campaign conversation so it should work with your current save (no need to restart from the beginning). I'm working on the Aquarium metatile and it is looking pretty good so far...

Hi, Jeremy,
Orrick does not seem to be fixed. I got the thread where he asks for the book and I give it to him, but nothing actually happens. He says he gives me an artifact, but none appears, there's no XP and the Mythal stays in my inventory. Sorry, I didn't check to see if the journal updates.

There don't seem to be any actions or scripts associated with any of the dialog. (One of the few things I can do with the toolset is look at conversations and scripts.) For that matter, I didn't find any obvious scripts for the necessary actions. I looked in both the module and campaign conversations and scripts sections with no luck.

Do I come back to Kandahar at the end of the new chapter? If so, I can wait to finish that off.

Cheers,
Dave

Okay, I'll look at that again. I may have fixed the stores, but missed the quest. You can return to Kuldahar after the next chapter.

Hi, Jeremy,
Here's a preliminary report. I've made it to the Tiers of the Dead(?) and have not found any problems. There is one Engish error, but it recurrs quite a few times, so I'll mention it. In Norlinor's conversation, the word you want is "vortex", not "vertice". I'll also mention again my suggestion to give areas names , not just numbers like AR6001, etc.

I'm stuck in the Tiers, however. I can kill the lich once, maybe even twice, but I cannot kill him and the minions fast enough to search for the key to the next room. After that, my party (L10) doesn't have enough firepower to take them down again. Any hints?

Cheers,
Dave

Hi, again, Jeremy,
Well, I managed to complete Chapter 4, but I could only get by the Lich with an extreme amount of metagaming.  Other than that, there were no problems; everything seemed to work just fine. So I guess my only suggestion would be to lengthen the time between Lich respawns. This would allow time for some searching instead of metagaming to find the key.

Looking forward to Chapter 5!!! And BTW, I've been talking IWD up on Sundren.

Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Dave. I'll change the Lich time. It is currently set at 20 seconds so maybe I should go to 30 or 40. The original is about the same amount of time and frustrating as well. All dialog was directly imported from the original so if there are spelling errors they are from the original IWD. Of course, if there are spelling errors we should fix them so thank you for pointing them out. Chapter 5 is on target to be completed in the next few weeks.

Hi, Jeremy,
There's one more thing which I forgot to do first time through. The quest to return Evayne's (sp?) Journal to Larrel, as described in the Game Banshee walkthrough also does not show up when I return to the Severed Hand. Nor, of course, does Larrel's quest update in the journal.

Cheers,
Dave

I'm getting a ctd one out of every three times when transitioning from a door or an area transition in chapter 4.

I'm running a clean install, (as always I rename my NWN2 my docs folder and use the new on created at game start).

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm not sure what a "ctd" is, but I haven't had any issues with transitions. Is it consistent when transitioning from a specific door? or completely random?

Sorry, when I said ctd I meant "crash to desktop".

Unfortunately it is not localized to just one door or area transition.

I have not experienced this in any chapters other than chapter 4.

I loaded up another community made adventure and have not had a ctd yet.

Again, I'm running a completely clean my docs NWN2 folder made just for IWD with only the files offered by you.

I think I'll try renaming my NWN2 my docs folder again and just copy all the IWD files over and try again.

This is more of an exact description of what is happening;

1.I approach a transition, (door or area).
2.I save.
3.I attempt to transition.
4.I crash to desktop.
5.I reload the same save.
6.I attempt to transition at the exact same transition.
7.I transition successfully.

This has me stumped.

That is weird. I was going to suggest that maybe you were missing a hak file, but if that was the case, you wouldn't be able to transition at all to the area that was missing an associated file. Is the area that you are transitioning to a custom metatile area?

I think Arundel used to have his own music theme and it's not playing when you enter his house.

Hi, Jeremy and sirchet,
The problem described sounds exactly like the problem with a certain few areas in "Legacy of White Plume Mountain". I ran into it there, but didn't investigate too much. Unfortunately, Wyrin couldn't find out what is wrong, and has just left things that way.

I did not run into the problem in IWD, only LoWPM. On the other hand, some folks are getting through LoWPM with no problems. Or perhaps they are just using the save-and-reload workaround and not saying anything.

Cheers,
Dave

Hey Dave, I played through LoWPM without any problems myself.
I have done another "purge" of my NWN2 folder in my docs and haven't had any ctd's yet.
I think I might of had a slightly corrupted mod file, if that's not it then I have no idea.

slowdive.fan, Did I mention how much I really like this rendition of IWD? Well, I really really do. :)

Hi, Jeremy,
MAJOR problem, about as showstopping as it gets. I can't get to the new module from my last save in Upper Dorn's Deep. The door transition just does nothing, not even the message about the next chapter it originally had. I downloaded the four files you indicated on the Vault, twice just to be sure. Do I need a new version of the Upper Dorn's Deep mod as well?

Cheers,
Dave

Hi, again, Jeremy,
I tried looking with the toolset and there appear to be two scripts for the final door (with the same name), one with the transition attached to the door properties and one in the ordinary scripts list without the transition attached. Maybe that's the problem.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Yes, this was a known mistake and that is why I posted a description on The Vault on the work around:

"Chapter 5 (Wyrm's Tooth) is now available for BETA testing (see the Icewind Dale thread on the Bioware Social Site for details). To continue from a previous save you will only need to download the following files: Icewind Dale_ver13.rar, iwd_07_v1.rar, iwd_haks_01_v6.rar, and iwd_haks_03_v3.rar. The transition door to chapter 5 Wyrm's Tooth will not work properly for those continuing from a previous save (oops, sorry...I fixed the bug but those with previous saves will not see the proper fix). The work around for those with previous saves is to enter Jamoth's tomb area (2nd room in southeast of Dorn's Deep last area) and a script will fire to transition you to the next chapter. For those continuing from a save before Dorn' Deep the work around is not needed as the door will work fine for you."

You probably didn't see it because it was at the very top of the page.  Sorry about that.

Yes, there are two scripts because one is a module script and the other is a campaign script.  The campaign script was intended to override the module script, but unfotunately it doesn't work because the door no longer exists for those who are continuing from a previous save.  If you could click on the door it would work.  So I then added the "enter Jamoth's tomb room" work around since there is a conversation script that fires when entering his room.  The conversation script origianlly just destroyed the Lich, but now I added a check to see if you have finished the area and if so to send you to the next module.  Since it is a conversation, the campaign convesation will override the one in your saved game and should work for those continuing from a previous save.

Again, this is only a problem for those continuing from a previous save and has been fixed for those starting from before Dorn's Deep (iwd_05.mod).

Let me know if everything works for you and thanks again for all your help with Beta testing! Image IPB
