I bought the game used and it has no users manual.  I opted against the auto-level up feature but now I cannot figure out how to level up.

At end of missions there's a tab that says level up, but no button will initiate it (xbox version).

I can't find a users manual online, so I'm hoping to find a helpful tip here.

You don't level up on the mission complete screen.



Press 'Start' to pause the game; that will bring up the menu. Then select the 'Squad' tab. Choose your squad member to level up.



Note: squad member you want to level up has to be in the party, i.e., you can only level up Shepard on the Normandy. To level up the others you'll have to take them off the ship.
