I don't know if it's a mod or somthing ( playing with the big world project ) but my mage was just using a sling fine one moment and now its red, and it says i cant use the item, even though he's proficient with them. Nothings saying that it's broke or anything.

I'm not getting any info on the special abilities ( talking about the game decriptions and the manual )  such as Imoen's reflected image, say.    I see some of the others are also spells, like charm person and slow poison though.

One other thing, when the amount that i'm carrying turns yellow ( the # )  what exactly does that mean ?      I notice they start walking slower when they get too weighed down, but they still seemed to move well and the number was yellow too.  I've been trying to keep everyone from going into the yellow #'s,  should i be ?

In regards to the weight of your inventory, character speed isn't affected until it goes into the red. Yellow is just a warning.

Yeah, the special abilities don't seem to have descriptions. You'll just have to experiment with them if you're unsure of what they do, or you can look it up.

Did you install the mod after you created your character? In BG1, sling, darts, and crossbows are all lumped into the missile weapons category, so it's possible that if that character is from before you installed the mod, the proficiencies may be off.

And I think only non-magical metal weapons can break in the game.

Yea we created this character at my friends house ( who was playing the same big world setup that i did ) And i just got a new pc, so i brought him over, instead of having to start from scratch again.

Damn, now the words in the dialog box aren't showing up correctly. When i talk to someone their response is all the way in the right side.

I have a feeling that i'm gonna have to install this again. I don't know about doing the big world picture again though, it seems like there's more of a chance for things to go wrong.

I prefer playing it vanilla mainly for nostalgic reasons, and also because I didn't like some changes that were implemented in one of the mods I tried.

I think I re-installed BG1 4-5 times before I got it working. A bit of a pain with the CD swapping since I had become accustomed to digital downloads.

Dialogue and UI displacement was only a problem for me when I tried to run it on higher resolutions than what's officially supported.

Note for future reference: You can avoid CD swapping if you do a custom install and tell the installer you want everything on the hard drive. This way you just need the CD to start the game and no more swaps.
