Although i always play on Insanity, i am very much against higher difficulty exclusives.
Difficulty should be a personal choice of what gives you the most enjoyment.
Yeah, but I want to be rewarded for playing a difficulty 80% of the people who buy it won't play. The hardest difficulty is always annoying in some way. I can appreciate a challenge, but I'm not going to play the hardest difficulty all the time. Even if you are against it, 99.99% percent of the gaming community isn't. No one wants just a pat on the back for doing the hardest thing in the game.
But this makes higher difficulties something that you force yourself through in order to collect a prize. If you are forcing yourself through, you are not enjoying yourself as much as you would be on a lower difficulty.
This prize being attached to the difficulty has had a negative impact on your enjoyment of the game.
I have nothing against unlockables, just them being attached to higher difficulties because it makes people feel as if they
have to do it on the higher difficulties. By adding the prize, you elevate those who play on higher difficulties at the expense of those who don't want to, and they force themselves too. There are better ways to add unlockables.
Difficulty levels should be for those who want a higher or lower level of challenge, nothing more.
A father of five who does not have the time to play constantly to the point where they can easily handle Insanity should have as fulfilling a gaming experience as a no life nerd like myself who can play for hours and hours and hours.
