Seriously, if talking in general terms about locked chests qualifies as a spoiler, then so does talking in general terms about there being enemies, or NPCs, or quests, or trees, or the existence of a game called Dragon Age: Origins. Hey, did you know this game is made by BioWare? Too spoilerific?

And sadly people continue to miss the point. It's really not that hard to figure out. It's quite easy, just pay attention to what you read.

What I believe the *tool* in question is referring to, is that this isn't considered a spoiler at all, and thusly putting spoiler in the title negates the thread being in general, as it should be in spoiler if you believe it a spoiler. So, the correct solution would be having the thread title with no connection to spoilers because it really isn't

It's not hard to make yourself look like a tool when you are one.

I'm pretty sure his point is buried in his first post and is basically insisting that people who haven't registered DA:O shouldn't be allowed to ask questions or have their questions answered because they must have downloaded the game via BitTorrent and are evil.

Almost anything is a spoiler if you want to extend the logic beyond a rational point, as others have pointed out. Threads like "Arcan Warrior: DPS or Tank?", "How good is Shale?" or anything about how to do such and such with Morrigan or the combat difficulty etc contain more spoiling in the title than this entire thread - and without the warning I included.

Unless Shadow Viper makes post like this in every such thread (which I sincerely doubt) then I tend to agree with Raine that you're basically trolling, whether you intend to or not.

Having said that I can see the argument that some people may not want to know there are chests in Redcliffe you cannot open with lvl 3 lockpicking and cunning below xx. Hence the warning. Honestly, for such people they are going to experience more spoiling from simply opening the general forum and looking at the threads than reading this one - I do believe this thread title gives no spoiler.

To my mind the spoiler forum is for discussing points of storyline, specific combat scenarios etc and a thread like this belongs in the general forum but that is just my opinion.

I don't see what is so hard to understand. General Discussion is not the place for Spoiler threads, ANY spoiler threads no matter how tiny/minor the spoiler is. It's not that hard to post threads in their proper sections.

As for the original post, thank you for making it. I now understand why my rogue was not able to open the chest (at lvl 3 lock pick) even though the icon was displayed as unlocked. Although, you have "spoiled" hours of frustrating and pointless reloading and tinkering with attributes and skills to try and solve a game mechanic not explicitly explained in the instruction book --- that you can be lock pick qualified but attribute deficient. I incorrectly assumed since there is a cunning requirement to enable the various lock pick levels, there would be no further attribute requirement beyond what was necessary to achieve that skill level.

Ok, I guess I miss the point. This thread is already labelled "spoilers" so you should feel free to be more specific. If needed then add more *spoiler* tag. I've never minded reading them either, indeed I've often read ahead and find games more enjoyable if I have some idea of where to go and what is going on.

so *major spoilers*:

I haven't finished Redcliffe, I'm at the point where you have to choose to kill the kid or not. I chose to complete the mages circle first because I didn't like the choices.

I will assume said chest is after this as other wise I only know there is a locked chest someplace in redcliffe that can not be opened with rank three and some level of cunning. There are chest scattered around the whole world like this, haven't run into a single place this isn't true (as my rogue is currently rank 3 with decent cunning and I find some I can not open). So this one falls under the "Duh" category right now.

I can assume that, due to your unlabelled spoiler complaints, that there will be a point where I know what you are getting at. As such I would consider you posts to be more of a spoiler than the OP (and even then not much of one). If not, then you just consider it a spoiler that there are chests a rank three rogue can't open in redcliffe to be a spoiler, well I have to agree with those that say "there are enemies in Redcliffe" is a spoiler too (indeed, since I didn't expect to fight in the actual town that is MUCH more of a spoiler).

In either case you aren't being the best that a forum poster worried about spoilers can be. In one you are giving something away that the OP you are complaining about didn't, in the latter you are so picky as to disallow nearly all converstation. There seem to be many who do not get the spoiler - I can only assume that the OP really didn't give one by that. Either it needs you to be where said question makes sense (and then isn't a spoiler - though the answer would be) or it is a general question and is thus not a spoiler.
