That is really weird.  It should have gone like this (and it does work -- everything is in order)

Warden: I thought the two of you were going to marry?
Alistair (if changed): And <emp>I</emp> thought you weren't going to stab me in the back. Funny how nothing ever turns out like you thought.
Anora: Alistair, compose yourself. (like she's speaking to a teenager, a bit disgusted by his lack of composure)
Alistair: Fine. You want Loghain in the Grey Wardens so badly? Then I'll be leaving the Wardens to marry Anora.

hmm i'll put it down to a glitch ive already stared my mage play threw for DA2 and didnt want it to happen again but just so im clear to harden alistar:

you tell him his sister only wants cash and then you tell him everyones out for themselves?

Tell him everyone is out for themselves, and then in the follow up conversation, affirm it.  Make sure you do have the follow up conversation as well.

It's a little ham handed the only way to spare Loghain is to put Anora on the throne.  Considering Alistair is fairly wishy-washy and if you have good persuade skills you can persuade anyone to do anything....

Then in that one decision Alistair grows a steel spine and will force you to kill Loghain.  He's usually reasonable...now he just wants revenge.

That one is just a bit too heavy handed.

I have to disagree with your assessment of Alistair. He agrees to let you lead, but there are few decisions that he disagrees with where he doesn't express some doubts about the way you're heading, or get hugely pissed off. It's a game, and he's required for plot reasons, so he can't stop you or walk away until the crisis point, but he's not unclear. He's actually the only companion wh consistantly tells you what he thinks of you straight out. And he's very clear about wanting to avenge Duncan, the wardens and the king. That's not new at the Landsmeet.

Yeah - what were we thinking in not including more complexity? Especially options that would have gone against the character of those involved.

You know I just read through a topic where people where complaining that there were too many options in the Conner/Isolde/demon quest and also you should not be able to save everyone. It's weird skipping right to a topic where people also complained that there are not enough and you should be able to save everyone.
