Obviously, everyone's going to list their favourite character as the best. People seem to have an unhealthy obsession with them on this forum and they are too blind to realize that the character they like the most doesn't necessarily have to be the "best".

My favourite character is probably Garrus but honestly, Mordin has to be the best written character in the entire series - no two ways about it, I'm afraid.

Edit:  Oh, I'm totally interpreting "best" as favorite.  What does "best" incorporate, if it's not how they're written and how they affect us?  So my favorites are the ones I think are "best."

Hmmm. My favorite character is Samara, but I don't necessarily think she's the "best" Mass Effect character. I would probably say the best ME character other than Shepard would be Liara, because she has a major role in both games and automatically survives both games.

The quality "best" is subjective. Hence, everyone picks their favorite characters.

Personally, when it comes to depth of character, I'd go with Jack, but I didn't think she was the best character because I didn't like her very much at all.

So, it depends on your perspective.

I like all of them, but Liara's my favorite overall, and all first game squadmates tend to rank over the second game's crew. (Tali and Garrus being in both, they split the difference.)
