Welcome to the Official Discussion Thread for biotics.
Alot of you out there I know love characters with biotics,
me to they rock. so this thread is a open opinion thread
to improve or add biotic powers for mass effect in general.

Ok so how this Thread works is name the class like this for example ( Adept) -
then name the powers that this character has that you want improved or added.

Like My Fav class Is The Adept So I would post this:

(Adept)
Shockwave (Improved)  - Ability to attack in all directions at once

For fun toppics with rules for unification of posts... good job sir. You win at not being able to win.

Would be cool to put in a biotic power that causes someone's else biotic powers to "overheat"... could be a really advanced power/endgame power causing one biotic enemy to brust with energy (with area dammage and push around that character). The biotic character takes no dammage, just gets stunned for a second and get it's cooldowns reset.

Thread is getting ninjad'.

Yeah, it would be cool to see some more powers like Charge - not just simple pull/push/buff/debuff. Something innovative would do.

Your idea for "improved shockwave" could take a form similar to a Scion's Pulse Attack for melee ranged enemies.
I would like to see a Biotic Punch like what Jack uses in her escape cutscene.

These were concepts I tossed out in a post sometime back . . . Surprisingly it actually took me longer to write out then come up with them! Dunno why but I guess I'll post them here too. Toss em about at yee leasure.

'Punch' a LOS - limited range cast.  Intended for Vanguards who like to brawl. (can be used with AI as well)

Concept: A brawler's biotic abiltiy, yet can only be cast at sort range. Damage - Delay effect
1. Powerful direct damage attack, stun, from a biotic charged punch.
2. Effect causes the enemy to get knocked off of feet and skid a short distance.
3. Effect causes some things to fly off of enemy (in the case of Mechs or maybe armor shards or pieces?)

Visual
effect: Biotic ripples thoughout user denote charging effect. Quick
right hand punch requires weapon to be held in left hand. . . or in the
case of pistols - smg swapped to the left temporarily.

Drawbacks:
Exposure to enemy fire, LOS, and very short range 1m or less attack.
Charge up time could be lengthened or shortened and cool downs for
balence.

'Hold' (I'm sure someone has posted a concept
similar to this.) a biotic ability that allows the player to lift and
move a target or throw. A pure LOS cast.

Concept: Allows biotics to lift and move a target.
1.
Lifting action is acomplished by holding down on the button and
utilizing visual (or motion) controlsl to lift and move left or right.
Releasing button leaves target temporarly floating unable to fight back
and subject to a 'Throw' cast upon global cooldown.
2. Optional:
(still holding down the button) Lifing is acomplished by utilizing
visual control, yet a toss can be done by triggering a motion control.
Damage is only applied if the target falls to it's death, heads out of
bounds, or strikes something.

Visual effect: Biotic ripples.
Weapon held in left hand (or swapped to it in the case of pistol - smg),
a grasping fist with right.

Drawbacks: Requires assignment and
tieing up a 'hot key or button' on the controller. May or may not be
effective with armor or barriers equipped targets (devs choice), Since
it's a LOS cast, exposure to AI fire may be a bit lengthy as well due to
the complicated control aspect.

'Quake' a biotic ability
that knocks targets down and causes some damage. Cast simlar to
'Singlarity' yet is a more concentrated form of 'Shockwave' and requires
it to land near their feet -vs- midsection.

Concept: Enemy advancement delayer - damage dealer.
1.
Small random bursts in a 3 meter circle at Enemy's feet, more of a
circular yet more constrated form of shockwave or maybe better described
as a cluster bomb quake effect.
2. (Unarmored - no barrier) Causes
the enemy to bounce slighly in the air and recieve damage from each
biotic explosion. (amount of explosions, and duration adjustable by
advancement of skill pts) And causes knockdown -  stun effect.
3. Disrupts aim while active reguardless of defenses. (armor or barriers)
4. Causes panic in some less experenced living enemies, mild confusion in mechs, makeing them move erratically after effect.
5. Stops movement reguardless of defensive value. (Enemy is trying to 'hang on' to something.)
6. Stagger effect for 'living' enemies.
7. (Edit! forgot) it dose damage defenses. . . Armor and Barriers.

Drawbacks: Must strike near target. Cast requires exposure to enemy fire. Cooldown.

I'd like a new power along the lines of what Morinth uses for defense against Samara at the end of Samara's loyalty mission.  She radiates energy outward during her "What choice?!" line.  In terms of gameplay, I see this doing three things.
  • The user would be invulnerable for the ~2 seconds of activation time.
  • The user would regain some barrier (shields).
  • Enemies near the user would take damage and be knocked back if defenseless, or stagger if still defended.

That looks very nice lazuli! Would be a cool animation to watch and an effective "oh crap" power - boosting barrier and knocking down / away nearby enemies. Must be on a 6 seconds cooldown at least I think

Thanks.  And I agree about the cooldown.  As I learned in my defensive biotics thread, when Shepard's shields drop he or she is invincible for a moment.  If that invincibility returns in ME3, my proposed power would break the game on anything shorter than a 6 second cooldown.

As one other way of making the power more attractive for high level play, I thought it should be able to be activated despite Shepard's current state.  For instance, if Shepard is staggering under a pyro's fire or reeling from an enemy's Warp, this power could still be activated.

For balancing purposes, this power would obviously not restore as much barrier as the power Barrier, for instance.

This is interesting. I like to think about this considering the improvements I expect in ME3. One of them is more enemys on the screen. Now, if this happens, this means that biotic powers will have to be reworked to keep a balance, a simple exemple, area pull instead of a 3 m radius would need a 5 m radius.

.

Starting from this principle, there a lot of cool things that can happen. Imagine a combo charge, like, you charge, you have like 1 sec between the charges where you can fire a shot. And I'm not talking about a very small cooldown, but 1 power only. I can only imagine how awesome would that be.

.

Another cool think would be be able to deploy more than one singularity at a time, and make them interact one with the other like a dual star system.

This I do like.  Both of my Sheps are Adepts, and when getting swarmed by Husks, I would like something like that.  But, it would need quite a long cooldown, as said earlier.

Also, another Adept thing:

Throw/Pull (improved) - Ability to use whether or not the target has shields or armour, but modified by the level of protection said target has.  (i.e. if they've got both, then you can barely move them, but you can knock them back.)

i could throw some ideas around about biotics.....

how about biotics fully working on enemies with armor, somewhat less effective against shields, and leave the stagger effect to enemies with barrier. allow the player to upgrade their abilities so each one would also become more effective against the tougher protections, maybe to the point where one or two ability works on everything, if upgraded appropriately.

id also like to see biotics being on sepereate cooldowns from all other ability uses.

shockwave should obviously be bettered for ME3.

id like some more biotic abilities that can do direct damage to enemies, maybe something like tearing off limbs or crushing skulls. maybe thats not really ME-like tho.

one big issue i have with adepts is that im not really the master of biotics, and im not really the powerfull CC class that i should be. any class with staiss is an effective "adept." the main thing is id like all the available biotic abilities to be available to the adept. i dont want to limit the available choices to a a player in terms of creating their charactger, and ME2s character creation is about as nonexistant as its story, in my opinion.

im sure i can think of more, but thats just a few off the top of my head.
