Plot armor / forced companions

Nothing destroys atmosphere more than forcing the player to have certain people around although he definitely does not want to. O hai Morrigan.

The Fade and the Deep Roads. I mean, I want to go back to both of them, but make them less repetative when it comes to enviroments, enemy-types and things you do while you're there. The Fade in Awakenings was much better than in Origins, and the Deeps Roads only need to feel more action-packed/quicker/shorter.

The shuffeling, the running after enemys without hitting them unless they stop, not being able to stop enemys from running up to my mage aso.

Some things from Origins I'd rather not see in DA2:

- Sustained effect visuals, why don't npc's ask why I'm all purple and sparkly?
- Elemental Damage effects on stowed weapons, walking around the Circle Tower Library with a fire hazard strapped to your back?
- Sandal.
- Forced Companions.
- Indistinct medium armours
- "Moving.."
- Drinking poultices.

Probably some others I can't think of at the minute.

Er, so how can you gain health? Or did you talk about instant gaining health, that is they terminate the **action to drink the poultices****?

In that case, no.

Crappy looting, and lazy designing especially going into the ancient elven ruins and seing they look like all the other ruins only with more leaves, and the abundance of fetch quests

Poultices are applied to an area, not drunk, somewhat pedantic perhaps but it did seem a little silly to me.

Being able to power through a romance in ten minutes and having the more "vanilla" ones culminate with sex.

The Fade and Overwhelm. The two most annoying and frustrating things in the game. I love Origins and everything else about it, except these two things. The spiders I can handle and the loot is one of my favorite parts of an RPG.

EDIT: Also, having Dog fetch things. Its ok sometimes, but the need to always have him to send off in an area in case there is something there for him to get was annoying. Half the time, I can never remember to check.

Dialogue, a 8+ hour campaign, an inventory, leveling up and any other useless "rpg" game type things.

Hmmm.. I don't think RPGs are something you should play.. F/TPS or hack 'n' slash types sound more up your ally.

On a more serious note: Annoying sustainables effect that make your character glow purple, or make a Voosh Voosh sounds every 2 seconds.
Poor framerates on the PS3

god, this. When I had Justice in my party and he kept using that one move before I changed his tactics, I kept getting so annoyed.

Already listed but worth repeating :D

* Sustained abilities - I hate lighting up like a Christmas tree.

* Trash loot - blank vellums in locked chests? Generic items on higher end encounters?

*Origins Fade design. Awakening was much better.

*Collection side quests. Rounding up 10 health poultices is not heroic.

Bugs. So many bugs. GLITCHES EVERYWHERE. It's like my Warden decided to go misigno hunting right before the game started, thus everywhere she went she was hounded by glitches.

Basically I would like this game to be a bit more polished, bug wise, than the original.

A lot of people are complaining about forced companions. This is a staple of RPG story-design.

Would people be happy if the quests involving forced companions were optional? As with the loyalty missions in ME2, some quests are pointless unless you have the appropriate companion with you.

I know that my complaint is already handled in DA2: get rid of the spell effects in dialogue scenes. I hate having Fade Shield on during a conversation and watching my parts of my body dance about disconnected.

List/mention anything from the original game that you hope will not be returning in Dragon Age 2.

Let me kick this off with:

Evil, evil, EVIL giant spiders who like to drop from the ceiling behind my character but within camera view, hissing loudly as they do so, causing me to shriek in surprise; and to top it all of, then they have to crawl all over me during the actual fight! Maker's breath, I hate those things! PLEASE let them be missing from DA2!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hates those things! I hated going through Ortan Thaig in the Deep Roads for this reason. I hate, hate, hate spiders. Never used them for ranger summons or shapeshifting either. Gah. *shudders*

I would like the Fade to return, but not the same Fade from Origins. One that's redesigned and looks quite interesting instead of fuzzy brown. Perhaps if it looks like it's shifting (didn't Justice say one of the strangest things about the mortal world is how static it is), or if there are varying colours/tones depending on where you are in the Fade. Really light/dark areas. Or big/small areas - like Alice in Wonderland style. It has so much potential!

The only thing I really wanted to change was how in combat, my melee characters just shuffled around each other like a bunch of geriatrics, and my mage/ranged character had trouble with targetting, and the mage's spells would sometimes be delayed, so an area effect spell would hit after the enemies had moved through. Fortunately, from what I've seen of gameplay vids, looks like it's better this time around.

Any and all of those long level grinding areas (deep roads, the Fade, Werewolf tunnels) where it takes over an hour to get through it and there's NO PLOT ADVANCEMENT. I'm all for long quests, I don't mind getting trapped somewhere until I finish the quest (Redcliffe) but please give me more to do during those 2 hours than loot chests and kill darkspawn. No interesting characters to run into, no party dialogue, nothing? Just tunnels and darkspawn? One of the reasons Redcliffe worked for me is that you did get trapped there, but there was a LOT to do other than just hack away at undead. The Fade and the Deep Roads are my least favorite, but the Werewolf tunnels (and the Haven) come close. Just hack and slash, hack and slash, oh God I'm finally at the end please plot driving character, TALK TO ME!

Oh god yes! I just started a playthrough with that voice and am struggling not to just delete it and start over lol. Other than that I agree with the common things that other people have said. The Fade in Origins was horrible and I  would have preferred having to do the Deep Roads twice, since at least it was creepy.

Useless items - If the item has no use whatsoever, just have us collect money instead. Also useless is getting low end generic items after I am waring far better equipment.

Fade - Awakenings was ok, but Origins was terrible.

Collection quests - Rounding up 10 health potions and the like. It's pointless and just seems like "busy work". Plus why would a Warden (or hero in the case of DA2) be fetching things for someone who could just as easily go get them themselves?

Sustained abilities - While they can provide assistance in combat, I don't want my character glowing all the time, it just looks silly.

Giant spiders - I hate those things for many reasons, most of which others have stated. Glad to see I'm not alone, hopefully that means they'll be improved or eliminated.

Bugs - It's worth mentioning that it would be REALLY nice if there could be far less bugs in DA2. I never encountered any of the game destroying bugs, but still DAO was pretty buggy.

Am I the only person who really liked the Fade? My girlfriend hated it too; she said it was frustrating, and she didn't know what to do... I thought it was one of the highlights of the game. God forbid you should actually have to think >.>

My problem with the Fade (and I think its the same for most people here) is that it was so long and boring.

Eh, if I wanted to play puzzles I'd play a puzzle game lol. Trying to figure out which forms you needed for which area was just tedious and maddening.
