... and I already have a question. I was going to attempt to complete Almraiven and the sequel, but found it difficult to locate. Since FP discontinued voting, it does not appear on the common lists such as Top Rated, but I eventually located a link.

Are there other mods like this that may need a seperate listing? I am uncertain if this even fits in the Overlooked mods list.

As long as I am here, I also could use some recommended mods in which I can create the main character, as I am out of practice. A great deal of the Top Rated mods require specific characters/ classes, and I wish to spread my own wings, so to speak.

Thanks!

If there is definitely one thing missing about NWN, it's an easy organised list with all the modules around.

I know of 3 or 4 myself, but to find the module you want is for sure the hardest part of the gaming job.

Your sticky helped me earlier in locating some other aids, so thanks for that. Now I need to find:

* fix for my game (have to play in Window mode to see/use GUI; very small).

* Recommended mods I have yet to play.

The first one is in my list.
N*41, NDubyaConfig

There is also a way to do it manually, which works for my Mac for instance, by adding these 2 lines in your "nwn.ini" file:

AllowWindowedMode=1FullScreen=0

(right above the [Video Options] line. Above sounds kind of weird but anyone can correct me if I'm wrong. Long time... but i had it working once.)

But it's gonna stay "windowed" all the time, unless you make 2 "nwn.ini" files, one for each play style.

About that The Best Module in your opinion is? thread?

Thanks, but I know of these lists; need a shorter one with personal recommendations. I have played a ton of mods in the past decade, and need a way to fiter from there.

Someone else also recommended the extra line of code in the nwn.ini file, but when FullScreen = 0 or 1, I see the same results.

The first thread I gave you, The Best Module in your opinion is? is all about personal recommendations.
I've been using it to keep tracks of the latest modules I enjoyed.

About the window problem: Sorry, but this bioware site is very bugged when it comes to writing precisely. And... I didn’t double checked my writing... :blink:
Here are the two lines how you should write them in your "nwn.ini" file:

AllowWindowedMode=1
FullScreen=0

You'd need the two of them, right above the [Video Options] box, one on top of the other.
I just tried that on my Mac and it worked fine.
For the records, my regular full screen "nwn.ini" file doesn't mention anything about the first line: AllowWindowedMode=1 line
There is only the "FullScreen=0" one but set to 1 instead of 0.
What about that PC NDubyaConfig mod anyway?
That should do it at will...

I noticed that too, some while ago, and wondered what it was about. But after checking Fester Pot's blog I believe the reason for that are the upcoming updates of Almraiven and Shadewood that are going to be released soon with the last part of the series. So you might want to hold off playing the Fate of the Auren trilogy for now. Read about it here:

http://aurensociety.blogspot.com/

As for recommendations, you've probably played through the Aielund saga already? If not I guess that would be the top choice of what you're looking for.

I tried my share of modules when I got back to NWN1 myself, and got disappointed with the story/roleplay aspect of most of them, as well as my freedom to make the character I wanted

Not sure what's your playing style, but my main sugestion then would be a PW that is actually a module as well.. It has carefully made chain quests that leads to 2 different campaigns (one for evil PCs and one for good/neutral ones) and both campaigns span from level 1 (starting) to 20... That's where I ended up playing...

It is based on Tolkien's Lord of The Rings though, so you have that as an only restriction (since its a roleplay server and they try to keep it realistic to Tolkien's lore)... Also, when you develop further on the campaigns you might need to play with 1 or 2 other people due to their difficulty...

I'm just a player there btw, not a DM or anything:

Unless I can get this Window effect solved, any PW play is almost impossible. The Chat GUI is missing from the Full Screen version, and the smaller sized mode limits scrolling for past comments. But thanks anyway *sigh*

One of the reasons I am wanting to get some solo play is for the general practice. All my muscle memory is now DAO centered, and I constantly use the incorrect side of the mouse for movement, slow camera work, and utilize the wrong Hot Keys esp for Quicksave.

That window thingy should work? Either with the writing trick or the PC mod I linked you to...

The writing one works for me, but again I'm on a Mac...

The link does not have installation instructions. In which NWN file does it belong?

Agrenost by Bubba and Accursed Tower by Udasu were both a lot of fun for me. They're new enough to include improvements and worked flawlessly.

I'm on a Mac, not the best with PC files. And "NDubyaConfig" is a true PC file, an .exe one. Still, when decompressed, it gives me a weird linux 4Ko file, which I have no idea what to do with.
You'll need a PC guy here to help you out. (PC comments on the page say it works fine.)

Now the writing trick:
Again, it's not one single line like:

AllowWindowedMode=1FullScreen=0

you're supposed to add in your "nwn.ini" file, but 2 lines, one of top of the other:
(Just use the green parts)

1) AllowWindowedMode=1
+
2) FullScreen=0

(above the [Video Options] line)

Don't mean to jump in here but just for the record, Almraiven and Shadewood have already been updated with a list of fixes and player posted suggestions. They've been updated and are on the vault with the stand alone modules.

Fate of the Auren is moving forward but is no where near being completed. I'll be out of the country for four months starting in the middle of February, so development will be shelved until my return.

I removed comments for Almraiven and Shadewood as I will not be around to attend to any issues directly. Sadly, this also removes it from the Top Rated list, which make finding the modules that much more difficult.

FP!

Done; still no GUI in Full screen mode. I even  tried inverting those lines. Thanks anyway.

Good to know; will continue onward then, and will attempt to keep my cheating to a min this time. And enjoy the trip!

That was the greatest idea to update and even enhanced those 2 jewels that are Almraiven and Shadewood. A fine module deserves that kind of attention.

I played those when I was a bit new to NWN, and probaly bothered FP about some "clothing" system in it.

But those two have been in my very own NWN ever since.

Good to see you around Elhanan, and have the nicest trip.

(Try installing another GUI? Plenty in my list. I'm not sure I understand what you're trying here, but I'm having a hard time leaving a fellow cheater down...)

'Tis true. In my earlier days of playing Almraiven, I posted to FP that my gold cheats were having to be done quite often. He tested, and informed me that I was going over my limit!

And good to see y'all still around, too!

Does anyone know of any good low level modules that a friend and i can go through together ?

Not looking for anything that huge yet. We're beginners, so a nice basic type dungeon crawl will do.

Personally, I recommend the Aeilund series; goes from 1-40th. Some of the best NPC's seen in mods.

I also enjoyed the Ravenloft series; two mods. The latter one is RL: Beyond the Gate, but I cannot recall the title of the first one.

The 36 Ravenloft modules I know of are listed on my Prime Module list, even though the Domain of Dread isn't a prime. Are you thinking of one of the Spires of Ravenloft modules? (There are 6; 7 if you speak Russian.)

As far as Almraiven and Shadewood, you could pres the HOF NWN Modules button and go to Fester Pot. Removing comments doesn't take you off the HOF list.
