Found this info for you, see if it helps. Especially the part at the very bottom.
Q. NWN2 Multiplayer: CD-Key Not registered? - "...I have registered my account and CD-KEY and it says to come here..."
A. It looks like the original poster fixed his problem, his cdkey.ini needed to be rechecked and correctly formatted. It might be possible that the people having trouble do no have legitimate keys (whether they got it from a site or they lost their CD-key etc… is anyone’s guess) or that the keys provided are not working correctly (I think they had a problem with CD-keys at NWN1 launch as well). The multiplayer team has not had trouble of this kind so far. It might also be that the players reporting this are using the EURO installer and their cdkey.ini has “Key0” instead of “Key1” which was a major problem reported before we released the US version, but might not have been changed for the EURO version.
Second Response:
1) I’d triple check to be sure the right CD key is being used.
2) Possibly the CD key is already registered (pirated)
3) Possibly the CD key is not valid (out of box) They would need a new CD key assigned to them
4) Possibly the Bioware validation server has had a hiccup, check again in an hour.

I really have no idea what this means. I copied and pasted the cd key so it cant be wrong.
Not sure about the cd key being already registered. it was bought as a pc download from atari uk. Something tells me i've just waisted my money coz i've played nwn2. I just wanted play it for the conline capabiliteis.

It's in the installation directory of your game. It is called nwncdkey.ini
