 I'm having a major glitch where my character will become totally unresponsive to any controller input. Shepard will stand in one spot unable to move, and I will be unable to open any menus or perform any actions, and the PS button will not work. The game will continue to carry on while this happens. It lasts roughly between 10-15 seconds.

My controller works fine with other games, so it's definitely the game. Anyone else experiencing this or know what's causing it?

most likely, it's your controller.

what you negleted to post is, Is it teathered to the sytem a lot?

Is your controller wireless?

and Is your controller old?

that information might help.

try resetting your controller next time it happens via the little reset hole on the back ( you'll need a toothpick or something else thats thin to do it.

Update: I discovered it happens only when my controller is plugged in to the PS3 for recharging. For some reason the game switches the controller off for several seconds and then switches it back on again. I know it is definitely Mass Effect 2 doing this because I play other games quite extensively and it ONLY happens when playing ME2. Weird.

FI, I've played extensive sessions with the DS3 recharging (especially when mining planets) and I never had my character freezing.
