But I'm a completionist and did everything I possibly could before the Relay.

You still didn't say what did you do to make 7 people die unintentionally in Suicide Mission!

Hm...I would have to disagree that seven playthroughs is a record.
Yeah, still not a record. Ecaels Worst Playthrough and its siblings were worse, though intentional.
Also got to remember that this is only one person admitting to their failure. There are likely many more who didn't.

I wasn't responding to the OP.I was actually responding to JeffZero's suggestion of going for more playthroughs, though I did misread that comment as they mention going for eight. I would still disagree.
As for surviving members...you can get them all killed so seven still isn't a record.
EDIT: if you do get most of them killed you get the bad ending.
EDIT 2: for the record I only lost one on my first playthrough and that was Legion.
Oh, I didn't mean to imply seven or eight would be a record, either. I was talking more of what I plan on doing. I saw someone else say they'd played the game through some thirty times earlier, haha.
Now 30 playthroughs is the highest I've heard. I'm 'only' on a dozen myself.
Checked a recent finished game; I counted 9 coffins.
EDIT: Intentionally trying to get everyone killed, not accidental. I will still stand by the thought that it's easier to save your squad than to kill them if you play through the game.
For roleplaying purposes, Shepard wouldn't lose that many because s/he would have to be an idiot. A person like that would never have achieved an N7 rank if they didn't know their own team.

Well apparently I didn't do enough loyalty missions (think I just did Jack and Zaeed), and I didn't get too many ship upgrades. Got plenty of weapon and armor upgrades though. I'm usually not one for side quests, so this ending came as a bit of a shock to me. Hope that clarifies things.
I mean who died where?
Engine room, Tech specialist, party memmber do to wrong/unloyal Biotic specialist, 2nd Fire team leader, holding the line and fighting with Reaper.

My friend's 11 year old brother completed ME2 without anyone dying.

And Grunt to a single shot which supposedly penertrated his shields....
Jack Died on the way back, figure because I lost her loyalty with the Miranda arguement.
The whole debacle with Grunt just pissed me off more than making me sad. I'd seen grunt survive hails of fire with Fortify and his ARMOUR. It was almost as bad as Jack and the Ymir mechs.

Being a completionist and carefully considering my assignments, I only lost Mordin my first playthrough. But that hurt.

I guess losing loyalty through lack of paragon/renegade points can make this happen. And making bad decisions like putting Grunt or Zaeed in charge of keeping people alive. Or putting Thane or Jacob in the tube, when you're expilictly told you need a tech expert. Or choosing a weak ass biotic to keep the bubble up.
Yeah. I guess it's possible. Never happened to me, though.

Most of my games have squad loses. Usually one or two. I never fix the medic lab and sometimes can't talk Miranda/Jack or Tali/Legion down. But I like it that way. Having everyone survive every time I play would make for a boring ME3 carry over.

I like having an unexpected ending, to a point. It's a lot like real life, you can't get it perfect, and you can't go back and fix your mistakes, you just have to work through them.mopotter wrote...
I lost 2 or 3 people (been too long and I can't remember exactly) my first play through also. I did all of the ship upgrades, except the medic one. I sided with Miranda, I forgot where I put Legion so didn't re-start him (my stupidity no one else) and didn't realize my crew would be taken by the collectors so hadn't done all of the loyalty missions before picking up Legion.

You've known some of these characters for a while and all of them (yes, even the bald one) are likable to the extent that you want to keep them alive.
Then we have a homicide mission.
Shepard: Grunt, into the narrow ducts to use your amazing technical skills to open the doors.
Grunt: ....
Shepard: Jack, lead the distraction team around the Collector flank
Jack: %^&# you all. I hope you all die.

That just made me want to load a save right before the mission and see how bad I can screw it up.

Still I don't like to think it counts because, AHEM!, Kasumi wasn't available yet and if she were there I would've made some definite changes in my squad lineup... (I know, its a copout lol.)
I'll just have to try and redeem myself in ME3.
