I accidently made a stupid party choice decision, and to make the story short I have no healers in my group. I've gotten up to the Branka fight but i'm stuck and can't beat her. To make things worse the exit out of this area is closed so I can't change party members nor leave and it is my only saved game. Can somebody please help me find a solution or know of an exit i'm not aware of?

Use the lyrium veins around the room, they restore some health and mana/stamina but can only be used once I think

I believe there should have been an autosave somewhere before you entered the area. Other than that, I am not sure if there is a way to reform the party :(

I'm having a terrible time with this one on easy of all things. I'm being slaughtered. I've been in tough fights before, but this one is kinda wonky.

Edit: you know what?  **** Dragon Age.  I've tried this a dozen different ways on ****ing easy for god's sakes, and I suck. And so does DA if EASY(!) can't be beat.  I'm not here to micromanage by ****ing toons.  I just want the story.  I'm not looking forward to redoing the trap portion just to take her side, but I will do it just to be get it the **** over.  Bad design if EASY(!) can't be done with a minimum of fuss.

DAO rule of thumb, always bring tons of healing poultices when adventuring beyond your party camp.

What spells and party members do you have?

Maybe someone who has done it a few times can help.

What's your party makeup?

I'd suggest trying to have someone (preferably with ranged attacks) kite Branka around the room while everyone else focuses on the golems one by one.

When I fought her. There were two white Golems, two yellow Golems and Branka.

I had one person fight Branka keeping her occupied. I used Cone of Cold on the white Golems and tried to shatter them quickly. I then focused on killing the yellow Golems. So everyone could gang up on Branka at the end. Branka is hard. The person fighting her needed to use a lot of potions.

There may be easier methods depending on your party and spells.

have a character take aggro from branka/carrigan. for the most part, your allies should be able to kill the minions left behind without collapsing themselves(i assume you have a handful of health politicises so those should come in handy). So take your main character and run around in circles...the battlefield is big enough for you to avoid confrontation with the boss and when your allies finally kill the minions have them switch to ranged weapons(if possible) and they should take the boss down in due time. Not as honorable as a strait up fight but it'll get the job done.

What is your party consisting of, just out of curiousity? I might be able to give you some specific advice. This is a mean fight; I really just hate it. It is ridiculously difficult. I really, really hate Branka.

If you have bows equipped on your warriors and rogues, get one of them to keep Branka chasing them and the others plucking her ugly stupid face full of arrows, one of them getting rid of the lyrium veins by right clicking them. When she starts chasing someone else, make sure you know who she's going after by making everyone go in different directions. That's who will start leading her around from then on; and etc. With luck and several reloads you should get her down to 0 health. Then you can decapitate the b*tch. No other NPC has deserved it more. She really should be slow-roasted in a mild sulfuric acid solution for several months and then preserved in stasis at her most agonizing moment of death.

There needs to be a patch for the Branka fight. The Archdemon should be harder; it's not.

I can't say I blame anyone for this fight making them reconsider how much they like this game.  It is the only fight in the game which wasn't easier the second time I confronted it.  The only reason I didn't side with Branka was that I had Shale with me, who refused to stand for the Anvil.

Both times I did the fight I was out of health poultices by the time I reached her.   The fights leading up to her are not too shabby either.

mages are your friends. Force field her it will probably last long enough to kill 2 or 3 baddies. them when it goes down Cone of Cold. I've done the fight with no heals and 5 pots it's all about CC and with most fights.

Ok, maybe Bioware will splice together a preferred set of cutscenes and dialogue options and sell you that for $60.

Another option, if you don't have any real heavy hitters, or super magic. Hopefully all your characters have a missile weapon. As soon as the battle starts, disengage and spread out around the area. Then start targetting the golems and kill all of them. If any golems or Branka comes after any of your party members, RUN. Run in circles with that character, until they choose another target, then attack with missile again. It will take a while longer with this method, but eventually you will be left with just Branka. You can continue with this tactic, or go back to more conventional. However, she was too tough for Ohgren to stand toe to toe with her, until she was beat up a bit.

And while doing that, just imagine that you're on Ventrilo with 39 other people and some **** is yelling about whoever lets the boss catch up to them will lose 50 DKP.  That gets me motivated.

Just how did Branka get to be so awesome anyway? By herself she could easily kill your entire party of warriors in under a minute if you don't fool around with kiting.

Also consider going back however far your save was and putting Morrigan in your party, and Shale if she's around. Cone of cold + slam = power. You might regret repeating the fight over and over again when you could've just gone back and started over. At least it's not two more hours of hopeless chasing around the field, praying for the good fortune to win.

I say, make her a Warden and put her up to fight the frickin' Archdemon. She'd down the beast in a couple minutes, no doubt, if not one hit.

Then when she's weakest, we strikes! Bwahaha.

And she kills us all. And laughs about it annoyingly.

You could download the patches, easy mode is so damn easy after you dl the patches. You can through the game feeling like a god, soloing the toughest bosses in a few hits.

I am curious what her attributes or abilities are that makes her so hard to beat.

She seems to have high hitpoints and does a lot of damage.

LEt's not forget her ability to summon magical impenetrable firewalls.

Wish I could get paragon abilities like that :(

Okay, I have to admit that that was one very tough fight. I died at least ten times trying to beat her and my party was Self (Rogue), Oghren, Morrigan, Shale. I was playing on Hardcore, but that should mean these tactics will work even better on a lower difficulty (which I was VERY seriously considering switching down to)…

Okay, first of all, tell Shale to use Killing Blow if you have it and then switch to the passive aura mode if you have that. Tell all melee in your party to put a high-level coating on and throw a flask each. Have Morrigan do anything that slows, weakens, causes a status effect, anything like that. Focus fire on one of the yellow Golems that is attacking one of the friendly golems to try and kill it before your friendly golem goes down. Move on to the closest white after that. By then, your other golem buddy will be dead but might have taken the enemy white golem down first, which would be nice, but don't count on it. As soon as one of your allies is dead, take Shale out of the aura-mode and switch to Heart of Stone. Have everyone put their coatings back on and throw more flasks as fast as you can at Branka only.

By now one of your party will likely be down, but Branka should be the only one left. Use every status effect skill you can and keep the coatings and flasks coming until she croaks. It's tough, but doable and you do NOT have to resort to kiting. =]

Here is what I did, right from beginning Branka will pick one target to hit, identify that target and kite Branka around the entire until golems are taken care of, which shouldn't be too hard. Kiting is really easy, the whole time Branka can't land a hit on you.

And then have other party members do ranged attacks (bow/crossbow if you don't have a mage, surely you picked up a whole bunch of ranged weapons there), if Branka changes her target, kite her again with a different char. This way might take a while, but it'll get her down.

I pretty much used the same method to kite every major hard hitters in game.

iirc, Branka uses lyrium to heal too?

The only reason I mentioned kiting is that the OP was stuck with a certain party makeup.

I also never gave all my fighters poison-making, but that's a good idea, especially for higher difficulties.

Don't forget to use the lyrium.  Branka uses them, and she even makes magical clones of herself - maybe seven of them - if she uses lyrium twice.
