The biggest problem with this is that those who didn't download it might feel a little weird if it is referenced. Also, a lot of people don't want more spoils than we already have. I am pushing for the PAX demo.
haha not to be rude, but in an effort to get less spoilers, you want the PAX demo (which is the opening of the game) instead of a completely unrelated mini-story? that just doesn't make sense to me, but to each their own
and even if it were referenced, to those who never play the demo, it could just seem like a reference to some event in the family history. these are siblings after all, they grew up together, it makes sense that they would have stories and references to events from before DA2 takes place.

Then again, seeing as a good number of people on the internet think you can't customize Hawke, its likely a good idea to include the character creator with any demo.

Actually you never entered character creation at all, you just chose your class and gender, but couldn't modify appearance. And you also couldn't play as a mage, at least at PAX (you could still control Bethany if you liked, though, so it wasn't too bad).Brockololly wrote...
The thing is, the demo at the conventions- didn't it basically open up where you start as default exaggerated Hawke, play through that, then enter character creation once you get to Varric and then go through the "real" version of events? Would they release that whole bit as a demo? Seems like quite a bit.

We already know all of what happened in the PAX demo. If it were to be that, then there would be new info about each character. A weak excuse, but I just want the PAX demo.

That's why I'm thinking it ones of the later incarnations of the demo seen at the conventions
You get to make a custom Hawke, play any gender or class and get a taste of the normal and exaggerated combat without going past any really important parts of the game.
