Why would it seem odd? The game is not even 2 months away, on top of that it could be more of a beta test for developers and not so much a demo.
I know they wont release the entire package obviously, but it'd be awesome if they used feedback from this "demo" to actually fix things before shipping the game, so we don't have to wait for a patch.
Exactly what are you going to be able to point out needs fixing in a short little demo that has an incredibly small portion of the game unlocked, assuming of course it's not a totally unique scenario like a lot of demos usually give.

It does make sense given the fact
that their media presence for DA 2 wasn't all that big, a playable demo
would really do some good to remedy that.
Especially since demos aren't all that common these days more so for the PC platform.
Not necessarily, demos can do just a much to hurt the image of a game as it can do to help it. Part of the reason demos have gone out of style or get released a few weeks after launch is because they can have a negtative effect on inital sales. Makes it worse when you go in not really knowing what to expect, people ignorant of a product tend to expect more then they really should, if it fails to meet your expectations it can leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Could be the demo, like I said it just feels really out of place at this point in time. Would have been better a week or two prior to launch after releasing some more varied gameplay videos rather then a month with hardly anything out there.
