Speculation. All of it.

Gaider didn't confirm  deny it though. And by not confirming denying, it's confirmed.

When it comes to these sorts of things people generally aren't allowed to issue confirmations but denial often come fast and furious, especially when it leads to unrealistic expectations.

Are you kidding? They gave us this mysterious date with Awakening... AWAKENING. I was expecting something to do with Origins.

A demo is great but I like Origins a lot.

Hey, didnt the devs mention a while ago that we'd hear fem hawkes voice? Maybe they meant in the demo, instead of a trailer.

Really? I find demo's as an opportunity to hone your skills for the actual game. If it wasn't for demo's I would have been such a noob at Infamous, when I first got the game. 

Although it is hard for me to admit this, I will.....I am not concerned about my skill in RPG videogames.  For example, in my multiple playthroughs of ME1, ME2, DA:O, and TES:IV, I have never changed the difficulty setting above normal.  For me, playing RPG's is a way for me to "craft" my own virtual narrative within the limits of the game.  A very important part of that is the way my PC looks.  So, in short, the gameplay is fun for me, but when it comes to RPG's, I don't feel the need to challenge myself and hone my skills with them due to me being more interested in the story, lore, characters, ect.  However, I can be very competitive and skill focused at other games, or I guess more accurately, I am very competitive and skill focused at one particular game.

the combat - a demo would go a long way towards putting those to rest,

I have little to no doubt in my mind that I will enjoy the combat in DA2 immensely more than I enjoyed combat in Origins.  This is due to personal preferences in animation, interactivity, etc.

As for the dialogue wheel, I think that the Dragon Age team is doing enough to improve it from the way it was implemented in Mass Effect.  I like the focus on intent, which I think is the main focus of communication in general.  Instead of text that could be misinterpreted, or a Mass Effect style wheel with loosly defined Paragon and Renegade options, we now have a wheel focused on the intent that you wish to deliver. 

So in short, I don't need a demo to alleviate concerns about DA2 because I have none right now. 

ON Topic: I would say it is indeed a full on demo.  ME2 did it and maybe it increased sales for them.  Perhaps the DA team is deciding to take a page from their book.

Let me save you the trouble. No one is going to confirm or deny anything until the 1st. Thats just the way it is. The cat may be out of the bag now, but they will not dignify it with a response until the date they were originally going to announce it.

Does seem odd though that they'd mark out this date damn near a year a in advance, hype everyone up with it, and it turns out to be a demo.

And do you always believe dev talk? Decisions and stuff change over a game pretty quickly.

In any case, I just think it's stupid they make a big deal about a bloody demo... A DEMO. They released a teaser about it like half a year ago. That is so wtf.
