It is, but fortunately for us those pictures weren't photoshoped.

Their links go directly to the EA site.

Hmmm, i've been thinking about this and I wonder if they might take a leaf out of Dead Rising 2's book and make the demo a kind of prequel/stand-alone adventure. Maybe not featuring Hawke, but something short, that shows off the gameplay and hints at future plots. Maybe having the main protag be one of the companions or something.

I thought Dead Rising: Case Zero was pretty cool, and I certainly wouldn't mind Bioware trying that formula out.

Hard to believe that Bioware's only input in this thread has for us to be polite. Well it'd be nice if they could confirm it, but we don't have to wait long to see for ourselves. Bioware already said on multiple occasions that February will be a big month for Dragon Age 2 info.

I made a poll about this a couple months ago, and I support this idea.../../../images/forum/emoticons/cool.png

Oh of course, I was just saying that photoshop is a versatile tool. Can't a man post something totally unrelated without people assuming it's ontopic?

[speculative deduction]Do you think there's a good reason for them NOT to deny this if it's not true? It seems to me, there's been a lot of people whining about gameplay footage and such, and the developers have stayed quite smug. I'm sure if a demo were planned, they would indeed smile knowingly when Brockololly wants his nookie. On the other hand... well, there's not really any reason to believe that there WON'T be demo, besides the lack of confirmation, which I feel lends its weight more favorably to the idea that there WILL be one. So, of course, pure guesswork on my part, but if I had to give an opinion, I'd say we're probably going to get a gift tomorrow.[/deductive speculation]

Yes.

Well, I know I've been complaining quite a bit about not hearing Lady Hawke's voice yet, so a demo where we could play her would totally take care of that problem. A demo would kill a lot of birds with a single stone.

Why do I get the feeling like I've said this before? Deja vu...

I assumed that was just true for Gaider? :P

I do find it really interesting that Mr. Gaider stepped in and told the people acting like idiots to knock it off, but didn't mention a single thing about the thread topic. If he knows people are acting like idiots in the thread, he must be following it. Hmmm. Hmmmmm.

And normally if something isn't true, he or someone jumps on it and says that it's not true. Like, as someone mentioned before, Fenris not being a mage. Fenris not being Dalish. Fenris not being a werewolf. Of course, he's written Fenris so he's the person to be jumping all over that, anyway. But still, he could have let people sit and speculate about inane things. But he didn't.

Hmmmmm.

I think that if there wasn't going to be a demo, they would have said the email was wrong. Or a hoax, or a mistake. Since they haven't... It makes me think that the email must be true. Their silence is their confirmation.

Which gives me tons of hope for Varric being an LI. Yes!

From what I read earlier, it seems theres a danger of folks being able to find out spoiler information in the Demo files. Im hopeful that they planned for that, and found a way to leave the spoiler information out of the files, as spoilers suck :) . In regard to the Demo itself, I think its a mighty cool idea, giving folks a taste of what the game is like with the new changes and improvements, and hopefully it isn't too long, I really wouldnt want to do anything too important in the game until it was in the 'real' game, not just the demo. Three cheers for EA and Bioware, what a great and highly unexpected surprise! A big thank you to all involved!

You were doing so well until the last sentence.

Still if it help the Varric thread keep moving I'm all for that 'logical' set of assumptions. :D

Lack of readily available contradictory evidence does not mean that it does not exist. Unfortunately, in this case. I'd like for that to be true, but perhaps they know that we'd be speculating to this effect in the first place?

Leading to a very long chain of "But they know that we know" reasoning. All in the name of messing with us/harvesting our sorrow. :o

Sorry but the pictures and email really negate the whole 'mistake' reasoning.  It's in three languages AND ON EA'S OWN WEBSITE and these kind of jump the gun annoucements have happened multiple times in regards to other Bioware/EA games.  It's practically their calling card.

That only leaves the deliberate hoax on the part of EA option.  Which AFAIK is something that has never, ever been done.  It's just not smart buisness outside of something on April 1.

Ever the optimist, Moon. You've got us all covered :D

Sadness that even if there is a demo out tomorrow, I won't be able to download and play until after the 5th, courtesy of being away to celebrate local festivities with the extended famille. Sadness ;_;

Now, where's the fun in that? Posted Image

Back on topic, I think it's a good bet that this "demo" exists in some form or another as none of the devs have come to quickly squash it like most rumours. Still, we can't just be getting a demo for Feb 1, 2011. There has to be more. There's always more. Like... confirming Anders is the mysterious male mage, for example. *notices everyone's narrowing their eyes at her* What?! Posted Image

*goes back to obsessively refreshing a certain thread over yonder, hoping for more surprises* Come on, Cher needs a new pair of snowshoes!

I didn't say that the e-mail was a mistake. Only that the assumption that, because you don't know of anything/haven't seen anything to contradict what you observe, it must be true, is a bad way to go about something that you're hoping for coming true.

Which is perfectly fine. Id be pleased to see a demo for DA 2, but I'm not going to place any high hopes (or any hopes at all, except that of my most foolish) on an e-mail.

I missed the link on EA's own website, can someone repost it? I saw the newsletter link, but when I searched for Dragon Age 2 Demo on EA's site, nothing came up.
