Now why would they do something like this if there was no demo?

Well they did release the character creator for DAO, but circumstances were different thenAlodar wrote...
Hey folks!
My apologies for interrupting the rampant speculation, but here are a few things to consider:
[snip for brevity]
[*]There very well might be a demo, but to my knowledge BioWare has never released a demo of a game before the game was released on at least one platform
02/01/11 is only one day a way. What, if anything, BioWare has planned will be revealed in a day or so. Relax, and enjoy the ride.
Alodar
good points though, doesn't hurt to keep some perspective here

Here's something interesting (sorry if it has already been noted):This thread was closed by a moderator with a link to the current ongoing thread.

[*]Moderators are not employees of BioWare and have no inside knowledge of what BioWare is planning. In this case the moderatior is simply funneling asll discussion about the demo in one thread.

The PS3 ME2 demo was actually pretty substantial, it had the character creation (I think? maybe wrong on that) then Lazarus station and Mordin's recruitment, all full missions.
Holy hell, that's very substantial indeed. I do remember them rolling with Mordins mission on conventions and stuff before the release, so perhaps it was their promotional demo all along.

Because it's in the site rules to consolidate discussion into single active threads. That one was closed because this one already exists.

That thread just happened to be created 6 months ago .
Forshadowing....spooky.

But it was necro'd. And this thread is where all the action was. It's pretty standard procedure 'round these parts. Nothing to be read into.
I'm aware, was just being an arse.

I've already pre-ordered, though a demo would still be nice. Perhaps it would benefit the fate of my first character, as I went through around a dozen characters or so on Origins before I finally finished the game with one. At least I'd have some idea of a face and class that I'd like my original Hawke to start out with.
From what I understood of the PS3 me2 demo, you could just continue that save when you picked up the real game. I'm hoping they roll with something similar.

Anyone know ? In Dragon Age 2 you will be able to import the character from DA:O?
...No...that was cleared up after DA2 was first announced. YOu cannot play as any of your Warden characters, you can only import the data from those saves so your choices still matter in the DA universe.

You can't import your Origins warden, just the decisions they made during the game.

Considering it's referencing a comedy, actually...
Not to mention the signature.

You'll import your descisions from DAO, but you play as a different character in DA2

This is true. I only abandoned one character, but I wasted a lot of time with her and she got dumped solely because I was completely clueless about pretty much everything that wasn't combat. While I doubt DA2 will require as much of a learning crurve for me, it would be nice to have a chance to get familiar with some of the changes before diving in for real.
But what I really want is a character creator. My first several Wardens were either presets or fug. /shallow

While I'd take trying any game play at this point, I agree that it would be nice to have more details on what actually imports. I'm hoping for a screen, similar to ME 2, that sums up what your character did that is transferring over.

I'd say that's unlikely. Hawke's story starts at the same time the Warden is off doing the Warden thing with Alistair and friends. It's also a completely different story written for a specifically different character; it would never make sense unless said mod totally rewrites the game. Which I would think is going to be unlikely. Third, there may be a conflict with character models. There's no guarantee your Warden's face would even be compatible with the face morph system of DA2. We know from a dev post that the character bodies in DA2 are different from DAO, they are not duplicated art assets.Calin Pandurescu wrote...
Ok thanks, i hope after the release of the game, some mod will show up and will make this thing of importing the character possible.
