Maybe this demo is their way of saying 'here, have some FemHawke' since a DA2 demo would be a bit lame without the character creator included in it. That's what i'm hoping for. I mean, even if it's a demo including the character creator plus the first section of the game, i'm likely to just spend the next month messing about with the CC.

Edit: Assuming it's not a lie, of course.

There seems to be a bunch of those old threads being revived and being locked, but no recent response from them in this thread. They must be waiting for the right time to respond too excited if there is anything to be excited for

One less data point, which I believe brings the total to zero.

If Bioware release a demo/beta of this game it will hit sales very hard....hence no demo.



That's the rub ....once you move away from a popular format and disenfranchise your customer base ( trying to scim the console market) with a shorter,streamlined game. lacking in depth and emmersive experience....the less you give before release the better.



DA2 will be a huge dissapointment to the original fan base...and they know it...hence no beta/demo

That reminds me.... who was it, Laidlaw? Kept talking about how he was hoping the 2/1 surprise would be getting to hear ladyhawke talking and that he was working tireless to get that for us?

A demo would certainly count.
Not that I'm claiming laidlaw wanting us to hear ladyhawke is indicative or proof of a demo. Just that it would be funny if he got his wish in the form of one.

Yep, they deliberately made a crappy sub-par game that they're not proud of and downright embarassed by.  That makes a lot of sense. I'm glad you're here to show us the light of reason.  In fact, I'd say your work here is done.  You can go now, mission accomplished.

They don't always.  They closed them because they were repeat threads.  They do this all the time.

That's wrong.  Mods do get slightly more details than we do.  They have their own forum to keep in touch with the devs and communicate about what can be said and what can't as well as what the official line is on different points.  In this case, I'm speculating that there's been a post tossed up in there describing what's going on, which is why the mods and devs are closing the demo threads as spam.

It is kind of amusing that this is almost the only thread on the front page David Gaider hasn't locked. Of course, it's also almost the only thread on the front page that isn't seven months old and necro'ed by a troll. Mind you, I don't think there would be any point locking this down until BioWare can confirm or deny the existence of a demo. There might be a riot with pitchforks and torches; at least this way we're all in the same place staring at the same thing.



The fact that this thread didn't get squished hard many pages ago makes me think that there probably is one, although I'm not quite convinced it's going to go live tomorrow. (I hope it does, though!)



Personally, I'm hoping for a character creator, with or without introductory gameplay. I know I spent ages crafting my first six Wardens before DAO came out. Only one of them actually got imported into the game; I changed my mind about classes and genders for the other origins after my first run. I still had hours of fun making them, and given that I'm planning to have a Lady Hawke and a Mike Hawke for each class, perhaps more of my creations would be used this time.

I don't really get the whole, they can't do this argument. If it personally spoils the experience for you, don't play it. They have the experience to do it, they did one for ME 2 and it was a very good demo I thought. I guess it's speculation at this point, but I'm still hoping we get one.

I can't think of an instance when there was baseless, crazy speculation that was allowed to boil on the forums (with other thread directed to the boilin' thread) without some basis in reality.
