2-man party?

I'm almost done with WH on Nightmare, and now want a new challenge.
There are places where you *have* to take certain party members with you, I know.. Is there a way to "work around" this, and if so, how? I plan on using a Warden+Morrigan party. Maybe I will pick a Rogue (had two warriors and a mage so far).
Will experience be increased for every party member? I remember playing Baldur's Gate 2 this way would have my two man parties be level 50 instead of the usual 27 I got when in a full (6 man) party.
What are your experiences with this, and do you have any advice?

Before I installed the lock bash mod I had Leliana trailing the warden set to passive, stealthed for most of a run through. She generally didn't pose much of a problem.

Other variations include Warden-and-dog runthroughs, naked runthoughs and no-health-pots runthroughs. If you can do a solo naked nightmare no-health-pot runthrough then you are officially a God.

That's how I "solo" and it works well. Stealth + defensive behaviour + self: any: wait keeps Leliana well out of harm's way most of the time.mousestalker wrote...

I think bringing one companion who actively participates could actually be harder than soloing. What makes solo runs not as hard as I expected is that you can put yourself in a strong defensive position so much more easily. It's not easy to find a nice nook for two people and the AI will often have your companion do something you don't want like run out into the open, not avoid the walking bomb, etc, etc.

There is no additional XP, however.
That sucks. I had thought that you would share the XP with/divide amongst the entire party..

Solos are quite popular - whenever you have to take certain party
members with you, just deactivate their tactics and go off without them.
It's mostly a prestige thing - being able to say that you have.
Especially if you solo nightmare. I think Rogue is generally considered
the easiest (lockpicking, and steath) and warrior the hardest.

Thats actually a pretty good tip, deactivating the other party member, thanks.
I was indeed planning on two-manning Nightmare. And I think I might just try the "naked run" sometimes...
Don't know about the "no health pot" thing, sounds rather tough to me.

For solo gaming I've found the Arcane Warrior to be quite a proficient
Specialization; though keep in mind it requires strategy and a good
build.
Thats what I was thinking too. So, just started another mage. Rogue will have to wait a little while longer. I've played an AW on Hard, and messed it up in Origins, but respecced to tank in Awakening and she was indestructable from then on, so I should be fine.
Probably going to have Morri spec AW as her second specialization. Two AWs would be kickass, I think. Downside is, of course, that i'll have to rely on pots.

That's something to think about, cheers for the heads-up. Still, i'd like to try it this way, guess I can't do without Morri, lmao. That, and a duo of AWs would be awesome. Might also offer some flexibility on my skill point-spending, what buffs to keep up, etc.
Thanks for the tips and advice so far, people.
EDIT: Since I can't use manuals etc to unlearn Shapeshifter on Morri, does anyone know of a good way to incorperate SS spec with AW? I usually don't use the Shapeshifter talents, instead, I just have her as an off-heal/offensive mage.

I think there would be some RPG incentive to go through the game only you and your dog.
Would remind me a bit too much of Fable 2 & 3.
