Equally: Fenris, Aveline, and your siblings, particularly Carver.

But Isabela and Varric have stolen my heart too, and Merrill could easily do so as well.

I thus defer to my signature banner. Companions are like dogs, as much as you love the one you've got, all it takes is a pair of big eyes to make you want to add another one to the pack.

I'm rather surprised the anime-style elf is the most popular character. I just find him far too much, visually and (on a hunch) story-wise like the angst-y teen protagonists of JRPGs. I may be wrong, but if there's a character I'm openly prejudiced against, that would be it.

It was tied between the archer guy and Bethany for me.

*le sigh*

It still isnt proof that she is a companion. Its proof that she is an important NPC.

Thats all.

Again I am not disagreeing I am just pointing out that you cant talk about her like she is an absolute certain companion because YOU DONT ACTUALLY KNOW.

Okay?

EDIT:
I have been told numerous times that the "devs said this" and the "devs said that" in whatever thread; and even been linked to said threads.
And not once did I ever see any Dev say that she (or Anders) were companions at any point - so you will forgive me if I continue thinking that she is a "likely companion" and not a "confirmed definate companion".

What? Did Merrill speculation beat you up for your lunch money? Are you worried that Merrill fans are going to commit mass suicide over their disappointment that Merrill isn't a companion? I really would not be concerned about the latter, since she is *totally* a companion. I believe there are even screens of combat and she's got a combat portrait and everything.

While there may not be mass suicides, I feel like this far in, if they announce Merrill as NOT being a companion, we might see mass homicides and the Bioware studio in Edmonton go up in flames.

So that is why you are so forceful on this topic. It does not conform to your ideas about the Dalish. Your reasoning is just as flawed as those who espouse that Merrill will be a companion in DA2 - all built upon "reasoning" and "speculation" on your part.

I wasnt being forceful I am sorry you felt I was; that I came off that way. But I really dont see why you being so rude about it now.
I apologised and was merely attempting to get the thread back on topic by talking about which companions I like and dont; my comment about Merill has nothing to do with my comments about the fact that she isnt confirmed as a companion (cos she isnt!) merely my particular opinion given that what we know of the Dalish her leaving will really need a good explanation otherwise I would avoid taking her along simply cause it wouldnt fit.

What precisely is wrong with that?

It isnt flawed; its canon. The Dalish are Insular, and ARE xenophobic and her leaving WOULD require a VERY good reason.

You are just attacking me now because you think I am being forceful and rude and have attacked you which I havent, and there is really no need for it at all.

I apologise AGAIN for coming off that way and nearly derailing the thread. That WAS NOT my intention I was MERELY attempting to play devils advocate by pointing out that she isnt a confirmed companion and by the criterion of the OP and the Poll really ought not to be included.

I repeatedly said again and again that I wasnt disagreeing with you guys; that i actually did and do agree; and that I was only playing devils advocate.

I look very forward to meeting Hawke's left hand... by the campfire... in private...

Yes, I am trying to turn this into another self-romance thread.

Why would I want to talk to a fictional character? I'd rather talk to the people who created them instead.

Bethany. We know almost nothing about her, I'm interested in how the sibling dynamic is going to play out and (irrationally) I like her more than Carver. (It probably has to do with the fact that she's a mage and she's practical enough to add some chainmail to her robes).

The irony is that my first Hawke is going to be a mage, too.

Warning, though. If you are going to play as a mage, Bethany dies and Carver lives. Visa versa for would-be rogues and warriors as well.

I am the opposite. For some reason I prefer Carver over Bethany (But I am interested in the whole relationship with both of them) perhaps cos her AWESOME BEWBAGE is total fanservice which I find massively gross because shes supposed to be your sister. And she actually had people asking "can we romance her?" *boak*
As a female character Aveline to be more interesting thus far.

All too true. No one was asking if they could romance Carver.

Yeh.

As fanservice Bethany is TOTALLY inappropriate; Isabela is and was a much better candidate for it but well I dont like Isabela's new look. The few trailers I have seen of her she just looks fat in them lol; maybe some blokes will like that but not me.
Personally I think Aveline looks sexier lol.
