Maybe that had to regrow allot of sheps tissue when resurrecting him/her hence no scar. Would make no sense for them to put the scar back in. Scars are not coded for in your DNA.
Eh...I don’t know you could spin it and make the loss of the scar a big thing to your Shep so instead of it erasing part of the story its sort of adds too it. It would be traumatic enough to learn you had been dead for 2 years. What if you also saw yourself in a mirror and realised you didn’t even look the same? That would be pretty unnerving. Really make it hit home that you actually died.

Exactly.

I completely understand why people got attached to their scars from ME. I've read a fair few character bios and fanfics where the authors have commented on losing the scars. Because there is no explanation to them in ME you create your own. A permanent reminder of Elysium or Akuse for example. Losing the scars takes away part of your Shepard's identity and part of the visible backstory you created for them.

However if you were creative enough to write a story behind your ME scars your creative enough to adjust with the new scar system. Take away the gameplay element and its very easy to write a bit of a new story too it. Cerberus recreated you to be at your peak. Imagine the reconstruction that went on. They probably had to recreate your face from scratch. In which case that scar would be new and added later. It would just be cosmetic anyway. Additionally since your face hadn't even healed yet you can also argue that Cerberus had planned to put it back there for you, they just ran out of time.

The whole reconstruction bit kinda failed in my case, as my Shepard had a scarred flattened broken nose (with a wide bridge, like a prize-fighter's). Reconstruction should therefore have erased the scar AND restored his nose to its original shape... as it is, the scar disappeared but the nose remained broken. Oh well... blame it on Miranda knocking me out with a mallet when Cerberus ran out of sedatives... or perhaps I tried to grope a cheek and got my just desert! Posted Image

You see the devs might have just seen it as some scar, but for me it was so much more. It's what defined my Shepard; it was my character trademark, it said hey I survive Elysium and I got the scar to prove. It was a code to protect the innocent the best way. Going into ME2 and listening to what TIM said about building my character just as he was before I thought cool I get to keep my scar. As soon as the character creation screen came up I was excite to see how the scars looked with new graphics; hell to see if they had any new scars. I came up a little disappointed and felt kind of sad about it. All I can say was where'd the scars go, TIM said he wanted nothing changed. I was confused, let down and her. While I didn't let that ruin the game for me still I was  angry about it.

Bioware thinks we're all a bunch of morons who don't pay attention to detail.  Unfortunately it's true, most people who play ME2 probably skipped through all the dialogue because they wanted to get to the "action".

I rather have my scar to tell my story

I'm not sure how to post a link, but this mod lets you use your old scar again.
