My game keeps freezing at the video archive in the shadow broker level. No button would work. I had to turn off my PS3 and lost some data. Terrible frame rate issues outside the plane before getting to the shadow broker. Please fix this Bioware.

I guess you haven't been paying attention to the other threads in here. Bioware is working on the issue. For now, stay away from the shadow broker mission. A patch will be released soon.

So quick question, is the Shadow Broker level/mission very important to the game? I'd prefer to avoid it completely if I could based on these reports.
Edit: Actually I just read that it was a DLC add-on, so likely not imporatnt to the main game I assume. I'll avoid it for now

Also there was a bad glitch in the 360 version of the Shadow Broker DLC and Bioware said they were working on it but it doesn't look like they ever fixed it. Could be a sign of what we might expect with the PS3 version being patched

yup this was the mission i froze/corrupted on as well.as soon as i jumped into the car for the chase scene.

Well it is very important mission , that is if you wanna make out with Liara T'Soni. Well I guess the developers in Edmonton have to do something on cold nights.

Hell you could totally miss out going anywhere near the Crescent Nebula entirely (the system Ilium is in) and still complete the game. That is what I did on my last playthrough 
despite the comic's best attempts to paint it that Shep has an 'appreciation' for Asari, I know that in ME you could have Shepard freaking out about the whole mindmeld thing, it didn't just have to be a concern of Ashley or Kaidan, Shepard could be concerned too, so I decided to have a playthrough where Shepard decided to avoid speaking to Liara and going near any Asari in general as much as he could try (obviously had to speak to Aria, but that was just a brief chat). As for avoiding the mission, when speaking to Liara just don't pick the bottom left choice in the conversation that mentions 'Lets go get Shadow Broker' (or words to that effect) and you'll not trigger it.
All that said, in my first PS3 playthrough I had no freezing issues whilst going through LotSB, the only part I did was when I was in the armor customisation tool on the ship but that could've possibly happened even if I had been on the Normandy as it sometimes slows down when using it there too.
Way I see it is this, until the patch comes out just ensure to follow the advice Chris gave about saving every couple of hours and doing a reboot of your PS3 to lessen the chances of the freeze/corruption issue and you should be fine. Besides its recommended you take breaks whilst playing long games anyway on any system

I think I'm going to take a break from the game and wait for a patch. I've had too many issues. Hopefully this patch will be out soon. I'm gonna start playing Dead Space 2.

My game keeps on freezing when Shepard finds the data disk in Liara's apartment and she goes to watch the video of the conversation Liara recorded. I keep on reloading my game and it keeps on doing it. 
It sucks, 'cause the Shadow Broker is a really cool mission.

Had a very bad freeze like the original poster on this mission yesterday. Locked up the entire system. Luckily a reboot and loading an auto-save did the trick.

Nor me. Everyone say what model of PS3 you have and if you've had the glitch or not. Might help when developing a patch.
