 Hello all,

I recently picked up all of the Armor, and Weapon DLC's, and I was going to try out a Soldier, normally I can't stand them but with the mattock+Incisor, I am willing to give it a go, so which armor pieces should I be using?

None. Run in there wearing a loincloth.

Armor makes only a minor difference in this game.. but for a soldier I usually go with the life boost + regen parts. (<-- use the dorky capacitor helmet if you dare!)

aside:  Stabby, I miss your old Sheploo-Transfixed-In-Terror avatar

If you don't mind the look, and have the Cerberus Network, then the Cerberus Assault Armor is decent. The Kestrel Armor from the Aegis pack is excellent, and allows for some customization. I normally take the Recon hood (Dr. Pepper promotional), Kestrel Chest and Arms (Aegis pack), the N7 Shoulders (standard issue), and the Stimulator Conduits (bought on Omega) for increased storming speed. However, as Locutus notes, the armor you do use make very little overall difference, so I would say go with what's the most aesthetically pleasing for you.

Ignore Locutus. He's clearly insane. Wearing any kind of armour makes you a big, flashy target for synthetics and organics alike. All synthetics, such as Geth and LOKI mechs, target enemies by tracking the signals made by your hardsuit's built-in computer. No hardsuit = freakin' invisible to bots. Organics have targeting systems in their hardsuits to track the signals made by other harsuits. The targeting mechanisms in weapons link to the hardsuit data to make aiming that much easier. No hardsuit = freakin' 50% dodge on all attacks by organics.

Disregard armour, acquire invisibility.

I can give some tips for the soldier, and with the Armor go with what you think looks best for your Shep.

Like Locutus_of_BORG said, they provide a minor boost or no boost like the Archon Visor.

First of all, look at my face. Do I look insane to you?? Posted Image

Secondly, the capacitor helmet is awesome. It instills a bowel-shaking terror in all who meet its azure gaze. It also confers a 50% chance to insta-KO any enemy in line of sight. Terrible, but well worth it.

I prefer loincloth-induced invisibility. As interesting as bowel-shaking terror is, I don't want to run around a battlefield worrying about stepping in something unpleasant. Space boots are a pain to clean.

The only question is, where do you put the kinetic barrier generator? Wait, scratch that. I don't think I want to know.

Playing as a soldier I use the Kestrel armor set, but change the helm out for the Visor you can buy at Omega giving +10% damage on headshots (although this is as much for looks as it is for usefullness). This works fine on hardcore diffulty level.
Generally though I've read that the best for a soldier is something boosting you health.
