Any time I access a wall safe to bypass my game locks up and I have to hold the power button down to reboot my PS3. I play on an older 80gig metal gear solid edition of PS3 that has had a larger har drive put in to 500gigs please let me know there is a patch incoming that will fix this.

Guess I"m the only one... Currently reinstalling all game data and deleted game save..should be a clean slateinstall, the disc looks fine, I'll get my money back tommorow if this doesn't work.

I have a similar problem to this as well. You're not the only one. Did the fresh install work?

No the fresh install did not work, however, that has been the only freeze spots I've experienced so far has been the 2 wall safes at the beginning of the game.

I've been having this problem too. It also happens with the doors you have to bypass. I've been able to get past doors by accessing them on an angle rather than straight on. Hopefully the patch will adress this freezing issue.
