Imagine you have to play through ME2 in its entirety with a pre-selected class and pair of squadmates.  Can you create a build/strategy for every situation using these restrictions?

Let's find out!  For the lulz.

STEP ONE: Go to this site. In the random number generator, put 1 as your Min and 6 as your Max.  Hit GENERATE.

If you get a 1 - you are a Soldier.
If you get a 2 - you are an Infiltrator.
If you get a 3 - you are a Vanguard.
If you get a 4 - you are an Adept.
If you get a 5 - you are an Engineer
If you get a 6 - you are a Sentinel.

STEP TWO: Now enter 1 as your Min and 13 as your Max.  Hit GENERATE.  This will give you your first squadmate.

1 - Miranda
2 - Jacob
3 - Mordin
4 - Garrus
5 - Jack
6 - Grunt
7 - Tali
8 - Thane
9 - Samara
10 - Morinth
11 - Legion
12 - Zaeed
13 - Kasumi

STEP THREE: Repeat step two.  This will give you your second squadmate.  If you get the same number as in step two, hit GENERATE again.  You cannot have both Samara and Morinth in your party.

STEP FOUR: Using your class and two squadmates, formulate a build meant to handle nearly any possible combat situation in ME2.  You may choose your own loyalty power (assume all are unlocked) and weapon specialization.  Everyone is loyal and at lvl 30.  Specify whether you intend to "use" this build on Hardcore (or higher) or Veteran (or lower.)  You may also list which weapons you and your squadmates will use.

Here's mine - Infiltrator, Jacob, Zaeed.

SHEPARD - 50 out of 51 points spent
Disruptor Ammo - level 2 (to unlock Cryo)
Squad Cryo Ammo
Assassination Cloak
Incinerate - level 3 (to unlock AI Hacking)
AI Hacking - level 1
Agent
Area Reave
Widow specialization

JACOB - 30 out of 31 points spent
Pull Field
Squad Incendiary Ammo
Cerberus Specialist
Barrier - 0 pts

Zaeed - 29 out of 30 points spent
Concussive Shot - level 2 (to unlock disruptor)
Squad Disruptor Ammo
Mercenary Warlord
Inferno Grenade - level 3

Area Reave could be substituted for Squad Warp Ammo, but I prefer Reave's brief stun against organics and health-sapping capabilities.  Ammo powers provide a combination of defense stripping and crowd control.  AI Hacking is a panic button in tight situations involving too many mechs.  Jacob will stick with the GPS and Carnifex while Zaeed rolls with the Incisor and Vindicator.  Shepard uses the Locust and Widow, with the Phalanx for emergencies.

Adept with Morinth and Kasumi. I guess Kasumi strips defenses and Morinth sets up the warp bombs? Dunno. Flashbangs would be nice, though, and they'd make husks a breeze. I could go double Dominate, too, for most missions, but for some reason I'm thinking Area Reave would be a better choice in the end.

Adept
Heavy Warp
Heavy Throw
Wide Singularity
Pull Field
Nemesis
Stasis - Level 1

Legion
AI Hacking - Level 2
Combat Drone - Level 3
Geth Assassin
Improved Geth Shield Boost

Mordin
Heavy Incinerate
Full Cryo Blast
Salarian Genius

Certainly one of the most odd combinations. Shepard is the primary shield stripper through Singularity lockdown and subsequent damage from firearms. Frankly, this group is widely impartial against shields. Mordin's Heavy Incinerate becomes invaluable and dropping defenses to allow Shepard to spam biotics. Stasis would be a necessity to cripple Harbinger momentarily or any elite merc whilst we deal with the lesser crowd. AI Hacking is worthless excluding a few missions where it has significant upside. Combat Drone's god awful cooldown would be enough to destroy stuff once.

My lack of usage of either of these two squad mates makes any strategy I derive guesswork. A tempting challenge I might just play on Insanity some time.

infiltrator with morinth and kasumi.

Since I'm inf, I pick Ap ammo (tungsten) as my bonus power, max it, go assassin + assassin cloak + incenerate (heavy). Weapon training is (of course) the widow.

I guess morinth can max dominate (single target if we're on hardcore+, otherwise AoE), the cooldown version of her class skill, 2 points in throw and the rest in lift.

Kasumi... I don't even know what she has since I don't have the DLC, if she's got overload max that (AoE) then just randomly put points in whatever else she has. It's not too important, really.

Cloak + headshot my way through the game on easy mode, teammates are not even really needed for the most part. Substitute warp ammo for AP ammo if you really want, but every enemy has either health or armor and armor is more common then barriers so I feel it's better as an overall power.

I rolled a Sentinel with Morinth and Grunt.  I would call this less than ideal, though it would certainly work on Insanity in the hands of an experienced player.

Shepard - 50 out of 51 points spent
Throw: Rank 2 (3)
Warp: Heavy Warp (10)
Tech Armor: Assault Armor (10)
Overload: Area Overload (10)
Cryo Blast: Rank 3 (6)
Defender: Guardian (10)
Stasis: Rank 1 (1)
(Shotgun training.)

Morinth - 29 out of 30 points spent
Throw: Rank 2 (3)
Pull: Pull Field (10)
Ardat-Yakshi: Endua-Yakshi (10)
Dominate - Rank 3 (6)

Grunt - 29 out of 30 points spent
Concussive Shot - Rank 2 (3)
Incendiary Ammo: Squad Incendiary Ammo (10)
Krogan Berserker: Rank 3 (6)
Fortification: Heavy Fortification (10)

Shepard would have to handle most of the defense removal.  With quick cooldowns and Grunt's ammo power, defenses should fly right off.  Morinth uses her Pull Field to prime Shepard's Warp explosions, perhaps using Dominate to gain control of high profile organic targets (krogan, vorcha pyros, etc) from time to time.  When not spamming Warp or Overload, Shepard should be refreshing his or her Tech Armor constantly to recharge the squadmates' abilities.  Using this strategy, Grunt and Shepard can easily wade into groups of enemies without fear of dying.

Hmm... I got Infiltrator, Tali and Zaeed.

SHEPARD
Squad Disruptor
Squad Cryo
Assassination Cloak
Incinerate - one point
Assassin
Squad Warp Ammo

Shuriken, Viper, Katana, Phalanx

TALI
Explosive Drone
Area AI Hacking
Area Energy Drain

Evicerator & Carnifex

ZAEED
Heavy Concussive Shot
Mercenary Warlord
Heavy Inferno Grenade

Mattock & Incisor

I'm on the 360, so I prefer to spam Fire with weapons. I play on Insanity and I would use the Infiltrator to get up close and shred the enemy as fast as possible, with Zaeed sniping and Tali micro'd with the shotty as I flank.

Ammo powers to fit any situation. The Weapons should complement each other for close to mid-range fighting. Probably go with the Avalanche mostly, and the Cain for two to three areas in the game.

I'll probably start with the Terminus Armor with its solid shield buff and spare ammo buff, then transition to N7 armor pieces that max my Shields as high as possible when I get to level 20 and above.

Probably just stick to using Cloak and Unity as my panic buttons and alternating between the weapons and ammo powers.

Sentinel, Jacob and Kasumi.

Shepard, 51 out of 51 points used:

Throw Field
Heavy Warp
Assault Armor
Area Overload
Guardian
Stasis (1 pt)

Locust, Mattock, Carnifex

Jacob, 30 out of 31 points used

Pull Field
Squad Incindiary Ammo
Cerberus Specialist

GPS, Carnifex

Kasumi 30 out of 30 points used
Rapid Shadow Strike
Heavy Overload
Improved Flash Grenade

Locust, Predator (RP reasons...she wouldn't carry a handcannon like the Carnifex.)

Tactics:

My Shepard is the primary defense stripper, which is why I went with heavy warp over unstable warp. Jacob's pull + Shep's warp is one tactic, along with me stripping defenses and sending Kasumi head hunting. This is, of course, after an opening FB to disorient the enemy. I might consider switching Assault Armor out for Power Armor, but I like the 50% shield bonus after the Tech Shield is broken. A nice safety net without needing barrier/GSB/medigel etc. I wouldn't play this like an Assault Sentinel, which I think is rather boring, and too powerful, TBH. I actually have a Femshep Sentinel running thru ME1 right now...this may be a good setup to run thru ME2 with...

I actually kinda like this idea, really! may hafta try it.

Rolled Infiltrator + Grunt + Thane >>> A tank with 2 snipers.  Image IPB

Infiltrator Shepard + Widow

Assassination Cloak: 4 (10)
Incendiary Blast: 4 (10)
AI Hacking: 1 (1)

Heavy Fortification: 4 (10)

Thane:

Such a brainless combination:
Put Grunt in front to draw fire and free up Shepard and Thane to go to work with their Boomsticks.  I really don't need to say anymore.

Lol, this looks like fun. Nice thread! =]

I got 6, 6, 13.
=>Sentinel with Grunt and Kasumi. Lucky me... ;) I can't really go wrong here, even with my apathy toward the sentinel.

Kasumi can disable and strip opponents; Shepard and Grunt can tank through the field.

Grunt: Claymore + Mattock
Conc Shot - 2
Squad Incendiary
Krogan Pureblood
Fortification - 3

Kasumi: Tempest + Predator
Rapid shadow Strike
Master Saboteur
Improved Flashbang

Shepard: Shotgun bonus weapon. Take your pick, dfepending on mission.
Heavy Throw
Area Overload
Deep Cryo blast
Assault Armour
Guardian
Stasis - 1

I skipped warp because no one has pull/singularity/slam, and simply warping targets to death gets very boring, very quickly.
Abuse stasis where necessary (floating platforms, ymirs, whatever...). Same with flashbang on harbinger.
Squad incendiary to strip through armour. overload for the shields. Barriers - just shoot.
Honestly there's not much to say here, you can really do what you like.
The only thing is how to use cryo blast and throw - thisisme8's video demonstrates nicely.

I guess it would be Tali's drones as distractions, plus Thane and I as snipers? idk. sounds decent but not optimal.

*This group really isn't possible until after the IFF mission unless the game is hacked, so I randomed a forth number for a pre-IFF squad mate.

Soldier (Revenant to keep things interesting) 49/51, Barrier:
10 Hardened Adrenaline Rush
0 Concussive Shot
3 Disrupter Ammo
10 Inferno Ammo
10 Squad Cryo Ammo
10 Combat mastery
6 Barrier (for when Medi-gel won't cut it.)
Meant
to be played hard and fast, with lots of red veins around the edges. Barrier, of course, can be interchanged with Geth Shield Boost for those looking to steer a Soldier Shep away from biotic abilities.

*Zaeed, Incisor:
3 Concussive Shot
10 Squad Disruptor Ammo
6 Mercenary Veteran
10 Heavy Inferno Grenade
I went with Heavy inferno Grenade for additional Armor/Husk removal, since the Incisor is going to do enough damage to make up for a missing 12.5% boost.

Legion, Widow:
10 Improvied AI Hacking
0 Combat Drone
10 Geth Assassin
10 improved Geth Shield Boost
Admittedly, AI Hacking isn't useful for the majority of the game, but when it is useful, it clearly outshines even a 17 second cool down Explosive Combat Drone. This is especially true if you have hacked the game and are using Legion from the beginning.

Mordin, Tempest:
10 Incineration Blast
0 Cryo Blast
10 Salarian Savant
10 Neural Shockwave
Neural Shockwave is essentially the same as Cryo Blast, with the added benefit that it keeps enemies standing rather than falling over behind cover.

This is a pretty balanced grouping, though Shep is a Soldier, so just about anything is balanced. Mordin for husk groups, Legion for AI hacking and Widow damage. Just keep moving forward and using that Revenant like it's a flame thrower and all should be well.

By the way, this thread is a great idea!

Edited for format issues.

Engineer (5), Tali (7), Miranda (1)

Pretty solid group!

Engineer, Speciality weapon: Geth Pulse Rifle

Overload 3
Incinerate 4 (Heavy)
Combat Drone 4 (Attack)
Cyro Blast 2
AI Hacking 1
Tech Mastery 4 (Operative)
Warp/AP Ammo 4(Squad) [Switch to Area Neural Shock for IFF mission]

Will be the main damage dealer.  Obviously the group lacks ammo powers, so squad warp/AP ammo.  Took AI hacking for oh-crap! moments with Geth.  Change Bonus power to Neural Shock on IFF mission to 1 shot husks.

Tali

Combat Drone 4 (Attack)
AI Hacking 0
Quarian Machinist 4 (Engineer)
Energy Drain 4 (Heavy)

Basically what I do with Tali on my engineer: more drones flying around, the better!  Energy Drain for bosses and geth.

Miranda

Overload 4 (Heavy)
Warp 4 (Heavy)
Cerberus Officer 4 (Leader)
Slam 1

Set her up for what she is best at: striping! No other biotics, so no point in making warp unstable.

So there you have it.  For 90% of the time, Tali and my Engineer will be launching drones while Miranda strips defenses.  My Engineer will usually just be spamming Incinerate except for shields and synthetics.  Enemies not effected by drones will just be focused on with Overload/Overload/Drain, or Warp/Incinerate.

 I loved my results -

Vanguard Shepard, Garrus, Zaeed
Bonus Weapon = Claymore
Insanity

Shepard
Incendiary Ammo 4 (Inferno)
Cryo Ammo  4 (Group Cryo)
Charge 4 (Heavy)
Shockwave 1
Pull 0
Assault Mastery 4 (Champion)
Reave 4 (Heavy)

Garrus
Concussive Shot 4 (Blast)
Overload 4 (Area)
Turian Rebel 4 (Renegade)
Armor Piercing Ammo 1

Zaeed
Concussive Shot 4 (Blast)
Disruptor Ammo 1
Mercenary Veteran 4 (Warlord)
Inferno Grenade 4 (Heavy)

Your typical Vanguard build - meant to be played aggressively with the Claymore primed with Inferno ammo one-shotting most enemies, while my two wingmates providing CC with Cyro Ammo and Concussive Shot as needed. As an added bonus, both of my teammates are snipers for maximum damage on the field, and both are outfitted with capabilities to handle any situation (Overload for shields and Inferno Grenade for Armor).

Very happy with this build, as the Vanguard is my favorite class to play and Garrus and Zaeed are among my favorite companions.

Ah damn it.

Infiltrator: Incinerate and the passive skills to full. All I need, no matter the difficulty. I'd like a drone but *shruggs*

Miranda: Warp, Overload, Passive skill <on full. She's not loyal. Doesn't have to be.

Zaeed: High Impact Shot, Skill 2, Passive Skill <on full. Again, not loyal and doesn't have to be. Because no matter the difficulty I will die a lot with this squad. You know, unless it's casual.

I got Shepard as adept with Jack and Kasumi. Hmmm, not keen on this squad at first glance. Just finished an adept playthrough and I didn't use jack outside her loyalty and Kasumi maybe once.

Jack

Shockwave 2

Pull field 4

Passive 4

Warp ammo 3

Kasumi

Deadly shadow strike 4

Area overload 4

Passive 4

Flashbang 0

Shepard

Unstable warp 4

Throw Field 4

Wide singularity 4

Pull 1

Bastion 4

Squad armor piercing ammo 4

Rarely used Kasumi enough after loyalty to have much experience with flashbang so stuck with others. Kasumi for defence strip with overload or SS then jacks pull to set up warp bombs. I would expect to have a rough time if I was to try this squad for the whole game. Would probably specialise in assault rifle to add a bit of gun-muscle to the team.

Grunt (Vindicator)

Concussive Shot (2)

Maybe a little 'weak' against armor, but with incendiary and unstable warp I think is enough... Yeah, no problem...

Only the cooldown ? That's the most important thing there
I've seen her health going up some points, but on Insanity those few points are negligible. As for the weapon damage, no idea. My advice, not spending a single point in her passive. Her other 3 skills are awesome when maxed out.
