Before Virmire Ashley calls me skipper etc. and I can dance with her at Flux (according to the wiki means that person is the romance). I talk to her alot and according to other sources the things I did were also good for the romance.
But after what I think was Virmire, the planet where you are with the Salarian team and you nuke the place. I chose to send Kaiden to be with the diversion team, and later I saved Ashley instead, to continue the romance.
But suddenly after the mission, when I talk to her she doesn't talk and talks about the rifles cleaning, and then if I go to the flux to check if I can dance with her, I can't. Instead Liara talks to me after meeting with the council. After that, when I go to the "Ilos" planet or something I end up romancing Liara.
What did I do wrong and how do I make it right again?

It's a small bug, occures sometimes.
At the last two conversations -(f somehow the choose between Liara and Ash scene never triggered) speak with Liara first and only then with Ashley (or don't talk to Liara at all in the last set of conversations). That fixed the issue in my case, although it required some nasty reloading.
Next time around be sure to turn her down when Liara brings up the matter for the very first time. That's the safe way to go.
