* Indecisive, can't make up his mind (ME1) .. I hated this about him.  So many times I wanted to just pay 5000 credits to Wrex to kick the **** out of Garrus. That would of been hilarious to watch.  Then when you say goodbye to him in ME1, he sounds like a little ****. "oh oh, sorry, oh sorry.."...

* A horrible leader

* Gets people killed

* Doesn't respect Paragon Shepard (pisses me off)

Not really...for example I don't feel that killing an Ardat Yakshi serial killer is pointless as she's a dangerous criminal.  Sidonis wasn't a criminal and isn't a danger to anyone...he was a coward on Omega who looked out for his own ass (and I'm sure there are plenty just like him there) but he's not a criminal nor is he someone I feel like Shepard should waste time on (just for petty revenge) when there are bigger fish to fry.

Apparently, anyone that shares an opinion contrary to popular belief must be a troll. Therefore, it is perfectly legitimate to bash on characters that the OP didn't even bother to mention in order to attempt to validate how uncomfortable someone makes you feel when they list perfectly legitimate reasons to dislike a character. That uncomfortable squirmy feeling in the pit of your stomach needs to go away so you decide to shout things like "LOL KAIDAN SUCKS" "LOL JACOB IS STUPID" etc. because you have a continual need to be accepted by your peers. And when you get rewarded for saying such things, it only validates that being a complete a-hole is the only acceptable way to communicate.



This thread is yet another reminder of why I don't other with the forums all that much. Simply put, it's incredibly tedious trying to sift through posts in an attempt to get real, engaging conversation without finding a crowd of derps playing the 'my character can beat up your character game'.

Sure, Garrus is a hothead who's estranged from his family and morally conflicted. Sure, he doesn't respect authority and gets violent and pissy when people get in his way. He even gets on my nerves, and he's my favorite character! It's his shortcomings that make him real.



As for the sniper rifle thing, Garrus also uses assault rifles.

It's an inappropriate reaction to the OP; if people are that upset then they should counter the OP's post with points of their own. Instead the responses are a bunch of, "LOL URA N00B"

So as it stands, the OP's post is one of the most thought out and intelligent posts in this thread. That alone should make people take pause.

I'm not upset over people hating on Kaidan. It's typical behavior for the forums and I've gotten desensitized to it because it's so prevalent. I'm actually just shaking my head and sighing because this thread completely validates the reasons that I don't browse the forums. I don't care who someone likes and doesn't like. There's a degree of courtesy that I try to keep around people that are fans of characters that I hate that isn't shown on the forums. 

Simply put, there's too much herp and derp and not enough rational conversation. I'm personally inclined to agree with the OP, but not with the tone of their post... there were nicer ways to put some things. Of course this automatically makes me a troll because I don't share everyone else's hive mind about a popular character. At this point, it doesn't really matter though. This behavior has become ingrained in people and has subsequently become part of the forum's culture.

I can understand not liking Garrus for basically the reasons the OP outlined. Though I disagree with the OP I can see why Garrus could get on people's nerves.



Personally, I liked that Garrus wasn't a "good Turian" (as he explains in ME2). He has his own opinions, he really isn't military, so he is going to express his opinion, but he also respects Shepard because of either how badass Shepard is or because of how good of a person Shepard is while still saving the galaxy. I think it is interesting that Garrus has the personality to be able to change.

Seriously, I've posted topics where I've said I really hated something, but I used non-combative language, explained myself, and did not drop insults or deny the validity of opposite opinions. Instead of fussing about all the things wrong with the forums, why don't you actively try to make them better?

Regardless of the tone, the OP did bring up some valid points that none of the so-called Garrus fans engaged with, instead choosing to defend Garrus by making false claims such as 'everyone likes Garrus or you are a troll!' or 'Kaidan's a wussy', which are two things that have nothing to do with Garrus being a hothead, for example, or with his quest for revenge being completely selfish and reckless.

one disagreement: garrus is an awesome leader. He can lead both the fire teams in the Suicide mission (like Miranda and Jacob I believe) and everyone survives his team on Omeg was the size of Shepard's entire squad and they worked well on Omega until one member betrayed the group. Even the Yagh Shadow Broker says he's a great leader, but won't reach his potential if he keeps serving under Shepard.
