I finished another ME2 playthrough recently and I realised that it was starting to get difficult to track who has done what amongst my various saves. I figured I should make a checklist to make things easier when ME3 comes around. Of course, rather than just keep things simple, I had to go and make an Excel sheet with drop-down menus for everything. After all that effort I figured others might be interested in it as well. It's not super fancy, but it gets the job done.

The original is in 2007/2010 XLSX format, but I also included an XP/2000/2003 XLS version which seems to work fine in OpenOffice. The sheets are unprotected so you can edit them to suit your own needs. If anyone has suggestions for additions, let me know.

Here's an example using one of my characters:

Btw, I discovered after the fact that there is a pre-existing spreadsheet project, but seeing as I'd already made mine and it seems to include more choices, I decided to post it anyway.

How, exactly, does this help you keep track of various saves? You just one Shepard per sheet. That's just a prettified list of the form "Flag N: Foo Bar Baz [delete whichever is inappropriate]".

Sure, it's somewhat helpful but why exactly do you need to use a spreadsheet? I was hoping for a presentation page using elaborate lookups, possibly using refs/pointers to simplify data entry (not sure if that's possible).

Yes, 1 sheet per Shep/save. I did say it wasn't super fancy. I made it for my own use and just figured others may get some use out of it as well. Sure, I guess you could just scribble the same sort of thing down on a scrap of paper or do it in Notepad or the like, but a spreadsheet just keeps things organised.

I like the idea a lot but there's a few bugs for me. Love interest and ME2 classe specialisation show an error : Err :502 it might be because I'm using Open Office and an old version of it, will try to download a more recent version and try again, I'll edit my message later.

Edit : ok so with Open Office 3.3.0 there are three fields that don't work. there's no little arrow on the side to expand and chose an entry and you can't even fill it yourself. the fields are : Status of Grunt, Status of Ronald Taylor and Status of Heretics

Here is a screencap : http://i54.tinypic.com/2yyp5pl.png

The Romance and Specialisation fields are conditional, so will give an error (in OpenOffice at least) if you don't enter a value for their dependent fields beforehand. For Romance this is Gender, for Specialisation it is class. This is intended behaviour.

I can confirm your issue with the other 3 fields. I'm not sure why, but for some reason they are blank after being exported as an XLS. I'll fix those and upload a revised version when I get a chance. Thanks for the heads up.

OK, v1.4 is up. This resolves the issue you flagged The-Mimic. The problem was that those 3 cells used explicit cell range references instead of named ranges like everything else, which OpenOffice obviously didn't like. I suspect it may also have been an issue in older versions of Excel, due to the inability of cross-sheet referencing in the older XLS format.

It's just an Excel spreadsheet. Use the drop downs to choose the appropriate answers for the particular character you are tracking. It was intended as an organisational tool in the lead-up to ME3 for people that had a lot of different characters to allow them to see at a glance who did what.
