Refering to this package here.

It's been up very long and I doubt anyone visits the comments there anymore, so I figured I'd better ask here, because apparently a few PWs and modders use it.

I recently tried this out and stumbled over a pretty obvious bug nobody has mentioned - Players can't exit counterspell mode unless they log out of the game completely. So I wondered if anyone has fixed that issue somehow. At the vault it was mentioned someone integrated it into DMFI or the PC Tools? Can players disable counterspell mode with that solution?

I redid it completely - i would not touch that solution with a 10 foot pole as it allows you to access a feature which was removed from the game, and just there because we share code with NWN1. All they did was hack something which was not intended for release so you could use it as is.

My code is in the community script library and implements pnp counterspelling via gui and spellhooks. Slowly i am cleaning all this up so more can use it, it's mainly intended for higher end developers at this point.

I must say besides the obvious bug that prevented us from going out of counterspell mode, it was quite fun. Not too worried about more advanced bugs really because this wasn't intended for a PvP or arena server, it was more to add some flavor and fun to a RP world. However, if you've come up with a better solution, that sounds quite interesting.

The fact you have to log out completely to end the mode in your testing is likely just the first issue and it's not anything which can be fixed. Enabling things the devs intentionally turned off tends to just become a headache.

Now if you just want to be able to have a GUI button that says counter-spelling, which says what it does and don't care what happens, sure anything works.

To me if it's broken it's broken, and that applies on both role play and PVP, and having to deal with technical issues, broken rules really makes it less about playing and more about navigating engine issues. And counterspelling is has very little which is not broken about it -- what i've done works, follows pnp rules and is pretty balanced - you have no guarantees you can counter unless you have the correct counter spell and it uses up your spells each time properly, and something in use on a real PVP server.

The biggest thing is that my solution likely needs a technical person to implement properly at this point, i have numerous working examples, and there are PW admins who have implemented my systems. I just have not gotten to the point where it's as easy to use for example as the content kaedrin is doing. I always suggest those wanting to try my solutions, to get on my PW ( dungeoneternal2 in action section ) prior to setting things up so you can see how it works when set up as intended -- everything needed to set things up like that is right there on the citadel and it all works in both single and multiplayer. And then you have the actual current haks as well which support the various systems.
