How do you want Earth to look for ME3?

I think its fairly certain we will be ground side on Earth at some point.  If not we will certainly see some of its cities and structures. Im just curious how people want to see Earth represented.  A beautiful vision of the future or something more akin to Blade Runner.

Ok here are some Earth facts pulled out of the Codex:

"Earth's orbit is riddled with debris generated by "bootstrap" space development; use of kinetic barriers is recommended at altitudes over 85 km."

Population (Surface): 11.4 billion
Population L4 and L5 stations): 250,000

ME Wikia...

While every human enjoys longer and better life then ever, the gap between rich and poor widens daily [...] Less fortunate regions have not progressed beyond 20th century technology, and are often smog-choked, overpopulated slums.Sea levels have risen two meters in the last 200 years, and violent weather is common due to environmental damage inflicted during the late 21st century. [...]

The two images we have seen of Earth seem to contrast the codex I felt. Sure London and the codex city may be in a more developed region.  I however was always under the impression Earth was overpopulated and a gritty place.  The Earthborn story for Shepard also helps illustrates this.   The above pictures look like its more of a utopian world.  Towering and brilliant looking Sky scrappers and Archologies in both. Ignoring the Reapers of course in London!

Is it just me or do people want to see more of problematic Earth worthy of what the codex has informed us.  Im just under the impression from the very few images we have seen that things in ME3 will resemble a perfect society and the only damage we will see will be from the invasion and not the problems from society.

Thats my opinion on the matter anyway.  Do others agree or would you like to see the codex image of Earth?

Funny thing, this image is used for a lot of worlds. London doesn't look anything like this so Im guessing they went with something more architectually human directed. This could be Earth in around 500 years, but not yet me thinks.

I imagine that, in-game, it will look something like Tuchanka from ME2.

Large income disparity indicates a sharp contrast in the standard of living as experienced by the rich and by the poor. Highly developed, pristine areas will be less common, but those that are present will be awe-inspiring, most likely. While the slums will probably dominate much of the inhabited regions of Earth, there will be little of note there, and with Shepard being a VIP, it would make the most sense for him to primarily witness the more pristine areas. It would also be cool if the player is exposed to both extreme slums and upper class society, with a special side-mission exclusive to players with the Earthborn background in the former of the two.

Why does it have to be one or the other? In our own time, nations are not uniformly shining metropolises or rundown slums. It's perfectly reasonable that some well-off areas might look like the codex picture, while other areas might be more historical looking (Big Ben and the London Eye appear to still be around - that's more than you can say for the Statue of Liberty), and some areas might be giant slums, from which the likes of Earthborn Shepard spring from.

We already know of at least one, the Texas Megalopolis, since that's stated to be where Kahlee Sanders was born in Revelation.

So I guess were just going to end up on a planet of rubble and it wont matter in the end how pristine the cities once were.  They will all look the same, burning and chaotic.

But even if the planet is a pile of rubble, I dont particulary want to see a grey colour palet used over and over again. Even amongst the chaos you should still be able to make out features of what the place you are in was like. Whether it was a stringing utopia or a bit of a slum.

I was thinking of having certainly a more slum like feel, even to the especially decent looking sky scrappers.  Sort of like below.  But it kind of resembles Omega's feel a bit too so they probably wont go that direction.

I think the OP's first picture is just the Google complex in 2183.

Edit:
@ Captain Crash:  The codex entry for Earth says that technology is undoing the environmental damage from the twenty-first century.  As such, I doubt we're going to see a gray palette complete with excessive smog and whatnot.  I expect that the environments the player sees will be reflective of a society that's reliant on green technology, which conflicts with the Blade Runner setting.

OP, It's a game about alien species attacking the universe. I think that hoping for in depth social problems to be shown is kind of futile. Nowhere in the game is stated that Earth as a planet is actualy described as overcrowded or torn with society problems. This is the part of codex entry on Earth that you seemed to skip:

Codex said...
The homeworld and capital of humanity is entering a new golden age. The resource wealth of a dozen settled colonies and a hundred industrial outposts flows back to Earth, fueling great works of industry, commerce, and art. The great cities are greening as arcology skyscrapers and telecommuting allow more efficient use of land.

Later the codex mentions how the gap between rich and poor countries have gotten bigger - never even implies that earth is an overpoluted and overcrowded dump as a whole, as you seem to want it portrayed. The codex entry picture fits perfectly as long as we are not talking about friggin' RPA, Congo or some other third-world country... I'm afraid that we won't see those, unless the Reapers decide to start the Earth's onslaught there for some reason.

I hope London isn't all grey and wrecked. Or at the very least there should somewhere cool and futuristic-looking on Earth that Shep should visit. I think Tokyo would be cool, if it looked all skyscrapery and hologramy, with lots of vibrant colours. And for god's sake Bioware, do NOT make America the centre of attention. It's such a cliche and the rest of the world is getting tired of it, me included.

You just described Tokyo as it is in modern day.

Your right.  Nowhere does it state that in developed areas of the world there are some sort of problems or issues. These areas could be quite a perfect setting.   All pristine and fancy like the below pictures. I just feel reading the codex about "bootstrap" space development. A population double what it is now and various other issues it leaves you under the impression of problems.  But your right its a game and that level of depth into social issues isnt needed.  Everywhere has its beautiful places and its run down slums.   In fact Bioware has a lot of scope has to how they want to portray Earth.

It's ME people, not Star Wars. You're all taking the "futuristic Earth" thing out of context.

Actually when you look again at the original codex Earth picture they are still in fitting with that design for the most part.  A couple are bordering I admit, but can see they are trying to convey a sense of the high rise culture that is being portrayed originally.

Alien being arrested in what resembles Hong Kong a little. The image is more in keeping of Earth's current architecture then the above codex image.   But again it depends if Bioware go down the route of the codex or something else.

Heres an interesting image of London which closely resembles the ME3 trailer too.

I would think the landscape would just be more polarized. 1st-world countries and nations would have immense metropolises of expensive-looking architecture while the less fortunate nations, like in Africa, would have make-shift tech and buildings. The Middle East, especially Afghanistan, probably wouldn't look too much different before and after the Reaper invasion considering how hostile the human and natural environment is there.

For the metropolises of New York or London, I would think they act a lot like a forest, where the canopy is brilliant and bright, but the farther down one ventures, the more slum-like it becomes.

I'm not sure how to include images (some people seem to know, so if you could let me know what html code is required, that'd be neat). I'll link the image : Link
