I would love for them to make everyone not dlc or related a romance option.

...Did they really do that for ME2?

Almost...Grunt the Krogan couldn't be romanced.

Don't forget that Mordin was also not romanceable, more's the pity. :P

Not everyone can get DLC. I have never gotten DLC. I have the money, but I live out in the country. My internet is so horrible that it isn't even unlimited bytes so my internet can stop working if I go on youtube even (unless its 1am to like 4am. Still it takes like over a half hour to look at a 4min video). So it won't connect to my console. Yes, all DLC is unfair. That is what makes the romance even more unfair. I'm hoping all Sebastian lovers get what they want. I'm just pointing out that it would be very disheartening for anyone without the ability to get DLC. Bioware would probably get a lot of threads on the subject.

Well, you're wrong. No one is entitled to DLC. And that does NOT make the romance more unfair. It would just be another feature of the DLC. There's nothing special about it that makes it somehow different from, oh, the companion himself?

Bioware gives everyone the same opportunity to purchase DLC. From their end, everyone gets the same treatment. That you can't download it is because of issues on your end, not Bioware's. If they bent over backward to somehow get you that DLC, you're getting concierge DLC service on top of the DLC itself. Now how is THAT fair?

They could have packed such Day 1 DLC with the original game, huh.

They did, if you pre-ordered before January 11th.

I don't really see why Sebastian having romance content is any more unfair than all the other content that comes with him that non-paying players can't see.

It's not. Someone asked if he was romanceable in his thread, and the dev response was "Pick the flirty dialogues and find out." And anyway, DLC is plenty fair. Everyone has the opportunity to get it as long as they pay.

I think, and this is just my opinion, a lot of people deem a DLC romance as unfair because they feel that a romance is an integral part of the game play.  While I love the Bioware romances in their games & feel that it brings a lot to the story & RP experience, I don't think romance is an integral part of the game, simply because you can finish the game without romancing anyone.  So with that in mind, for me an LI DLC character is not unfair, anymore than a awesome DLC armor is unfair or an extra DLC campaign is unfair (i.e. Return to Ostagar, Soldier's keep etc)

That's my 2 cents.

Having companions is an integral part of gameplay too, much moreso than romances. Their minds are clouded by "feelings," and "emotions." Such things have no place in objective thinking.

Paying for a romance is better left to those in red-light districts, hm? Let Hawke flirt with Sebastian until she or he goes blue in the face, but I honestly don't see him being an LI.

Lol I'll take it to the Pearl though.

If the Kirkwall branch of the Pearl is the only way my main Hawke gets any from the stout folk, she's not going to be pleased. I'm just sayin'. The lady has needs Fenris can't take care of. And I've seen Anders in his smallclothes. Not a strand of chest hair.

You can pay for romances in red-light districts? Or is that suposed to be a pseudonym for sex?

Well, we pay for the LIs included in the basic game, too... so with this in mind, the DLC wouldn't be really any different if it had LI thing as part of it Image IPB

I'm afraid other dwarves won't have Varric's glorious chest hair. The Kirkwall Pearl (or other ****house) will not be able to provide. Image IPB

Though I kinda hope they have a Qunari available. (Their new design is just so sexy/cool)

Hey, some are quite good at setting the mood, I imagine. Still, it was more of a tease than an actual point I was trying to make.

Liar of the Shadow Broker was a DLC romance and very well received. I consider it the best DLC BioWare has done so far.

Hmm, yes I can see were your coming from. However consider that Liara had already been an LI in ME1, and if you don't romance anyone in ME2, she remains to be your character's LI. Still I see your point.

The comparison would make sense if Liara was a new NPC who we'd never met before. Considering it was a continuation of a romance and not a complete one, I wouldn't think of it as the same thing.

In the past there hasn't been much in the way of DLC characters that would make decent LIs (Kasumi is the only one I can think of right now), but there's no logical reason for them not to be LIs, if anything being an optional DLC character really should make them 'more' likely to be an LI, because if they were an LI more people would buy their DLC. I doubt this particular DLC character will be an LI, because there are already 3 other likely male LIs, but I actually hope he is because that means that even though there are also 3 likely female LIs right now, if this fellow becomes a 4th male LI, that means we'll get a 4th female LI also in future DLC, and that would be extremely cool indeed :) .

Or he could just be a both genders option.

I doubt Merrill is a romance option. I believe I've read posts from Mr. Gaider in the past in which he expressed a deep contempt for female elf romances. That doesn't rule it out of course, it just makes it less likely.

Didn't he also do the same for dwarf romance?  But also said they'd do it sometime...?  *is confused*

The only romance any really cares about is the one with your sister, and how awkward it will be when she falls in love with one of your companions.

He didn't express 'contempt.' David said he was tired of writing female elven love interests after BG 2, which had three of them.

But David didn't write Merrill so I'm not sure why it matters.
