Personally, I like the idea of running into old companions. I wished in DAA when doing Wynne's quest we'd have the option to go back and talk with her again. I think it'd be great to stumble upon Leliana doing another bard mission for someone from Orlai, or Zevran with the crows. You run into them in a bar or tavern. Keep the connection going from all titles within the series. I like to see stuff like this. If old characters have cameos I'd like to see more than one with the same character. Or see them sitting in a tavern having a beer or something. We'd get glimpses of them moving on with their lives. Walk by them and say hello, or bump into them and say excuse me. This type of stuff.
If you had to choose ONE companion to bring back from Origins/Awakening

Probably Shale. Or maybe Anders.

Shale was my favourite character, but she's dead on my canon playthrough, so...
I think I'd have to say Justice. I really liked the issues he was wrestling with regarding his existence, and I felt he could have been developed a lot stronger. The same goes for a lot of the Awakening companions, though, just because the writing limit was so much lower. I'd love to see Nate and Anders and Sigrun and even Velanna, back. Velanna might turn up again depending on where the whole Architect/Seranni plotline leads (in future DAs). Sigrun I can't really see making a re-appearance, despite the fact she was easily one of the best characters in the expansion. Justice can kinda turn up anytime due to, y'know, being a spirit.

I'd prefer to have them all in the game...maybe not as companions as Elvalia said...just to bump into and have short conversations and goodbyes...for the continuity of the story.
Which is how I thought Bioware would tackle it....with the change of direction that is moot now.

Hands down Alistair without a doubt. Loved him. Easily one of my favourite ever companions. Dog too but we already have a warhound summon dlc (I like the way they gave Dog a personality). Morrigan has gone her own way and I think it's only fair to let such an awesome character go. Plus we have Flemeth as quite a presence in DA2 anyway so she makes up for that.
Would love for Alistair to come back.

I don't think the change in direction that they have taken with DA2 would hamper this. There are too many characters that could show up in the Free Marches from DAO and DAA, and all of the content.

From the Origins proper companions? No one. From the pseudo-companions Jowan would be cool. Any character at all: Lady of the Forest and/or Swiftrunner.
From the Awakening proper Companions? Nate would be good, Sigrun, next then Justice follow quickly thereafter, then Anders. I can't list Velanna even though she'd be inbetween Sigrun and Justice since we already have a Dalish mage.
From the pseudo-companions of Awakening? The Messenger would be AWESOME!
This is all from a companion perspective, as for them just appearing as cameos, I wouldn't mind was long as our choices with them didn't bug and they weren't a proper representation of the character we "raised".

Leliana if in love to me. If that's not possible, then, hmm, lol Wynne in case she would be eager to undress/let-the-robe-be-pulled-up when needed. If not, then Shale.
Edit: Morrigan is too difficult.

I'd really like to see Origins companions return to Dragon Age 2, but after reading this thread, I realized all of them are far too tied with the Warden. It kind of would discredit their relationship with the Warden if they became companions of Hawke and had the development all over again. If that makes any sense?
When it comes to Awakening, it would admittedly be quite WHEEEEEEEE!-ish to see Nathaniel make a brief appearance during the beginning of the game, before he returns to Ferelden.
Oghren is too tied with the Warden.
Justice has served his purpose.
Sigrun is fun, but I can't see her travelling to Kirkwall.
Velanna is too consumed with saving her sister to be busy with anything but that (which is exactly why I hardly ever recruit her).
Anders... Well. I'll judge that once the mystery guy from the party picture gets confirmed. I'll say this, though; he too is too tied to the Origins-story. Though I guess that depends on what ending you get him.
If anything, I would -love- to see the Warden make at least a cameo in DA2, considering EVERY Awakening ending has them suddenly disappearing after a few years, no matter what choices you made (the fact it mentions 'a few years' or something similar has me doubting the disappearance is related to their Calling). The ending of Witch Hunt made me especially curious if the Warden will reappear in future games, but to be honest, if that even would be the case, it would probably be in Dragon Age 3 or later installments, not Dragon Age 2.
So in short; none.

Excluding Alistar and Morrigan was a clever trick! They would be my second and first, respectably.
I would really like to see Anders, I really, really liked him in DA:A but due to the shortness of the game, we didn't really get to know him that well.
The person I would least want to see again is Oghren. Never again. I was tired of that barely two-dimensional dwarf in DA:O. DA:A was even more tedious.
