Erode_The_Soul wrote...

From what I can gather, at this point people are angry that:
1) There is a demo and Gamestop gets it early
2) There is a demo and customers get it later than Gamestop employees
3) Due to the wording of the demo "announcement", the platforms the demo will be on are unclear
4) Marketing surrounding DA2 is just plain awful
5) Bioware has remained silent on this issue
6) People feel a sense of entitlement
7) Other people have no sense of understanding about the issue

Edit: Changed teh title for people to  find it easier.

makenzieshepard edit: Original Title was : DA2 Demo? Likelihood and desired features discussion.

Maybe they are doing one and it just isn't ready yet?

What is there to get ready? They could release the demo they've been letting the press play.

You mean besides the fact that they've been playing the game and are simply only getting time to get so far into it?

We will, in fact, be putting out that demo. On March 8th. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png

In terms of if and when there will be any other sort of demo, you will have to wait and see. We haven't said aye or nay at this point.

EA Czech Official Word on Demo:

Possible News: Czech EA ( http://www.facebook..../dragonage.czsk ):

"We don´t like the role of the messenger of bad news, but DA 2 demo is not prepared at the moment (or being prepared)"

There is indeed written it is not ready YET.

Um.

READ WHAT I SAID

The journalists were playing the entire game, which is the "demo" that the person in that thread wanted released. So I said, yes, THAT demo would be coming out... on Mar. 8th.

Our release date.

A lot of spam, name-calling, spam, insults, bickering, and lots more spam. Folks, let's try and keep this discussion civil and on-topic. Many warnings handed out, and they're only warnings because we know this is a contentious topic and want to give you leave to vent. But please don't take advantage of our temporary lenience on enforcing our Site Rules. Thank you.

I'm going to ask people to please stop swearing in this thread. We can freak out and disagree with each other (and us) without swearing, name-calling or insults. I would also like to remind people of the rest of the Site Rules. Just because you are upset does not mean you don't have to follow the rules.

Some spam has been removed, some warnings and bans handed out. thank you.

My money is on more than a few Bioware employees being utterly disgusted with how this is playing out, but not wanting to wade into the middle of it for fear of making things worse. And I don't begrudge them that at all.

That and it's 9:30pm. Aside from people crunching, the entire office (which includes Marketing) is closed and has been for hours.

Yeah, it's almost like I have nothing to say on this subject. Strange, isn't it? It doesn't seem to have mattered a whit, really. Y'all don't really need any kind of official confirmation or discussion, y'all are riding the righteous indignation train pretty well on your own. ;)

But... couldn't anyone have at least said that? Your off-handed comment "I have nothing to say" is the most we've heard over three days of wondering what's going on...

Without getting into the meat of this thread - as a publicly-traded company, we're very limited in what we can discuss. Not to mention there are very specific people whose job it is to discuss very specific issues - and this includes even something as seemingly-innocuous as 'I can't say anything about this'.

Most of the people who post on these forums are developers who offered to lend a hand with moderation and the like. We can occasionally share tidbits and clarify things. Other than that, there are things we can and cannot talk about, and generally we like to leave the bulk of the community stuff to the appropriate people.

We did say that... by not saying anything. We have nothing to say, so we didn't say anything. We didn't address certain issues, because we had nothing to say on those issues. You ask us questions about stuff. We don't answer, it means we have nothing to say on stuff.

I post here asking for people to follow our rules, it means I have something say as a Moderator whose job it is to keep the forums running smoothly. As a developer, i am much more restricted in what I can tell you, even more restricted on what I will tell you, as some folks have correctly pointed out.

Keep it civil, folks, or this thread will be locked. We have no problem with you all discussing whatever you want to discuss, as long as it's kept civil and follows the Site Rules.

In all honesty I thought the posts were pretty civil since Stanley's warning a couple posts up...

Aside from the accusations of illiteracy you are correct. I missed Stan's post, unfortunately, as this thread is moving at a mile a minute.

Fair enough, Stanley.  I'll extend apologies to you and John (whose post I didn't quote, but read) if you feel I overextended.

Really, we're totally cool with saying what we can when we can. But when everyone's got their pitchforks and lightsabers out, it's difficult to wade in and be a voice of reason. I often have to set myself up as the target and let people shoot me a few times before they start to really listen to what I'm saying and think about what they're posting.

However, would it be fair to ask you to relay a request that someone who CAN comment, do so?

way ahead of you. I sent off just such an email an hour ago. You likely won't get anything at all until tomorrow, even if someone can and chooses to wade in here. No promises, at all.

I mean, I think you can both see that, beyond the snarkiness, what we really want at this point is the answer to 2 simple questions:

1) is there a demo which will be released to the general public on 2/23?
2) If so, will it be available on all platforms?

Thank you.

Don't mistake me for an internet newbie, TJPags. I've been reading this thread since it all started. I know precisely what the questions are. but a lot of this hoopla has been happening long after the office has shut down for the night. I'm finding it a welcome distraction while I'm working late tonight. John is likely posting from home, which answers a different question about whether we can access our Mod accounts from home.

Please keep this thread on-topic, folks. The gender of other posters or Gamestop employees would fall under the 'off-topic' category, and has a tendency to bring things into an arena that's not really conducive to a positive forum environment.

Thanks!

A reminder, once again, to stay civil. You're allowed to disagree - you don't have to insult other posters to do so.
